Lawrence Co. has played Coal Grove , Belfry , Sheldon Clark , Prestonburg , Boyd Co. , Russell , Rowan Co. I can't remember the scores of each game but if you take out the district teams from this then I think all the rest of the teams lost record combined would total about 4 losses this schedule would have to be the toughest in the area by far . And we still have Breathitt co which is 7-0 and LCC which is 7-1 still yet to play after the Greenup co. game

Seems a bit premature to be talking about this game especially in a Greenup/Lawrence thread.

is it any wonder KY is looked at as a laughing stock by Ohio when we have these big games for HOME PLAYOFF spots when the team is truely terrible. The playoffs should be reserved for teams who have excelled during the year and won some games . This is foolish and desperately needs to be changed. I'm sure it's probably been beat to death on how stupid it is. LB

I agree. What can possibly be gained (other than $$) by playing some of these playoff games. Embarassing defeats just to say you got to the playoffs?Ohio playoff system is determined mostly by strength of schedule, and wins. Not perfect, but workable.

Lawrence County's non-district opponents:

Coal Grove, OH (5-2)

Belfry (7-0)

Sheldon Clark (7-1)

Prestonsburg (6-2)

Russell (7-1)

That is a combined total of 32-6.

Greenup County's non-district opponents:

Russell (7-1)

Letcher County Central (7-1)

South Point, OH (3-5)

Raceland (5-2)

Ashland (2-6)

This is a combined total of 24-14.

LC has to be hungry for a win by now.....

So is Greenup County, as the Man-ing has posted, we have been in most games at halftime, but seem to let it slip away in the 3rd and 4th qtr., if we play 4 qtrs., we will be in a Dawg-fight, this obviously is a big game for both teams, I think turnovers and the kicking game will determine the winner, GC has a outstanding field goal kicker, and usually put's the ball in end zone 60% of the time. I don't see any reason for both teams, holding anything back, this is probaly the biggest game of the year for the Muskies, I hope Coach Sammons can get our boy's focused to play a complete game, and get us a home playoff game.:ylsuper:

Lawrence Co. 28-21.

I think this is a toss up. Lawrence has the win with the strength of schedule. Greenup gets the win for loosing most games that were closer then the score would reflect. Both teams have installed a new passing offense that both are trying to get used to. I think both have some trouble with their pass defense. I really would have trouble picking the winner. But, for the sake of argument:

Greenup Co. 34

Lawrence Co. 28

hard to get a handle on LC , good enough to beat Boyd but loses to Rowan . Plays Russell close. Has played really tough schedule. I'll take that over the constant soap opera at GC but it should be really close LC 22 GC 20 LB And please skip the playoff talk the thought of either one these two talking playoffs with 2 combined wins is silly. I'm all against rewarding those who does'nt deserve it. LB

I would pick Greenup in this one until I witnessed the Ashland game Friday when former Coach Sammons went for it on his own 18 with his team ahead 6-0 in the 1st qtr on 4th an one. Thats not even grade school football
