Alex Matthews, quarterback from Shelby County, has to be considered one of the front runners to win Mr. Football this year.

 

Stats through seven games:

Alex has completed 170/285 (59%) for 2452 yards (350 yards per game) and 27 TD's with only 4 INT's. Those are great numbers for anyone, but to do it week in and week out vs. the competition Shelby County has been playing is amazing.

 

Shelby has played Scott County, Eastern and Manual over the last four weeks, who are all ranked in the top ten in 6A and has had his best games against them. He threw for 432 yards and 5 TD's vs. Scott County, 558 yards and 7 TD's vs. Manual and 455 yards and 6 TD's vs. Eastern.

 

He does a tremendous job of spreading the ball around to his receivers as well. Jordan Burk has 37 receptions for 869 yards and five TD's (124 yards per game), Kyle Marston has 39 receptions for 557 and 6 TD's, Coty Minnis has 34 receptions for 425 yards and 11 TD's and O'Theius Beach has 41 receptions for 404 yards and 3 TD's.

 

Alex is being recruited by several division I schools and is a super kid.

My vote is for Corey Farris. He's currently the top rusher in the state, and is thirteenth in the country in rushing.

Right now Farris has to be leading the pack! The thing that will hurt him is possibly not going to the semi's or finals where Fields could make the semi's and finals.

I believe Aaron Boyd and EJ Fields are having a 2 man race right now. Both have had great seasons.

What point are you trying to make? Farris commited to UK for baseball, which has nothing to do with football and if you look at the kids numbers there is no way you can't bring his name into consideration.

That's what Im saying, somebody said above that maybe Fields just won the race, because he committed to Kentucky. And I was asking, just because you committ to Kentucky why would you win?

He is very fortunate to be in the golden triangle. Sounds like a great candidate.

Zoeller from X is a great QB. He is sharing running time with Duece and is still putting up great numbers. I think Zoeller is definitely deserving of Mr. Football even though his numbers aren't outstanding. BTW this is coming from a Male fan so no biased opinion here.

E.J. Fields would be my choice right now.

Farris, I have seen him play, as many of you others have, and he just takes control of the game from the get go. He is almost unstoppable, and not to mention, he is FAST and STRONG!!!!
