Pulaski Co. 41 Southwestern 15

I will give my respects to PC being the best in the county this year, but for them to make any kind of run in the playoffs they are going to have to have something else besides Hines and Muse. A good team will shut them down (Lincoln Co.).

Don't forget they have to stop Claiborne too! There are also some guys who PC didn't need contributions from Friday who are a big part of this team, Barnett, #15 has been a very good (but quiet) offensive weapon for the Maroons this year. I also think from watching the game Friday, RC White (#24, I think) is healthy again and should begin to contribute offensively. But I do not understanding why they have to do something else, A good team will have to contend with them, but I don't see them stopping both. It's the old saying, stop the run they will throw, stop the pass, they will run. tTy to keep Muse contained to the middle, he will blow by you. Try to Hines from the edge, he will blow by you. I think that there are many good teams nervous about the prospects of trying the "shut them down"!

Has your Blue and Orange faded to a tint of purple and gold?

Yeah that's it.. or it could be the fact that I can accept some critism & I am not wearing the Blue & Orange blocker sunglasses.

How on earth did you come to that question anyway? Was it b/c I took up for a Jumper fan? who # 1) Has supported SW & PC in every game unless they played SHS #2 has admitted he was wrong about PC's team this year #3 Flat out tells it like it is and doesn't sugar coat it, (which for some reason tends to upset some SW fans). You tell me which one it is man?

Anyway back to the game.. PC has some serious speed and could be dangerous in the playoffs. The LC game should be a great one.

SW needs to find some leadership & most of all get back to having fun.

Good win for the Maroons as this sets them up nicely to go after the #1 seed in the district.

Let's all get along. PC has done what they've had to do to get it done this year. Muse & company are special this year and probably will be for the next 2. No disrespect for previous posters but we have some quality football going on now in all of Pulaski County. SW is down but that's not unexpected given the quality of last year's seniors. SHS will make a good run and next year they may be sitting in a tougher spot with a younger inexperienced team.

It all goes in cycles and it would be nice if we all were great year in and out but that's usually not a reality. PC should handle Wayne but the true test will be Lincoln. I worry about that game because I know that LC will be after Muse in a big way. Heads up Chris.

As for PC being hands down the best in the county, I think they are slightly better than Somerset (but I wouldn't want to play them today) and better than SW across the board. Friday night showed that and will be the case if they see each other in a month. SW is a good program that will figure out the areas of improvement needed but that may not show until next season. It will though eventually. SW lacks confidence whereas PC is loaded with it and it comes out on the field.

^ I agree with everything you said. We all know each others kids and each others parents, we should try to support each other more.

Thanks for the support. I can assure you that Warrior2000 is as big a Southwestern supporter as there is--but he saw the game Friday and won't make excuses. SWHSWarrior2000 I think you know I really respect what SW does with their program. I hope all the local teams do well--as a matter of fact I wish all 3 teams would play each year and I really wish that they could be in 3 different classes each year so they could all have success in the playoffs without having to put each other out like SW and PC do now. I think SW's biggest problem is confidence. They've got good athletes over there and while they may not be as experienced as in years past they can get the job done. It all begins with the guy behind the trigger--the games that T.T. has been able to stay in Southwestern has been much more competative in. When he has been knocked out not only has SW had to go to their backup but since their backup is their best receiver and most dangerous player in space in White--it has crippled their offense. Their defense has been suspect but it is very young and will be better as the season goes on and next year. This week is a big one. Southwestern is a better team than Central Hardin and should win this game at home. However, CH is good enough to beat the Warriors if they do not exhibit the heart that I've come to expect out of Warrior teams in the past. Warriors your season begins Friday, come out, play hard and turn this around. I think that they do it and win 35-14 on senior night.

AJG.. I agree 100% with everything you have said. The warriors have not played anything like the teams of the past. I stood with SWHS2000 Friday at the game and we both agreed that this years team is not playing with the same heart and soul that past teams have played with. I think you hit the nail on the head with the confidence statement. I just hope this week has been successful for the warriors and they start to turn the ship around!

Nice win for the Maroons, way to keep it rolling.

Coach Hines has this program headed in the right direction and this is one of the best stories in high school football in Ky this season. Hope to see you continue getting the W's.

I am a SW fan and I thought we got a break on that call. I think without a doubt PC was the best team last night and I want to congratulate them, But this game was a lot closer than the final score. PC was up 28 - 15 and Adam White got behind the PC Def. and the ball was just out of his grasp. IF SW scores there 28-22 and who knows. The PC TD inside a minute made the game seem more one sided than it actually was. If PC beats Lincoln they will be the #1 seed and SW will be the #4 seed. I hope PC wins because I would love to see the rematch between these two teams.

SW was definitely outplayed in all aspects of the game. SW was able to stay in the game somewhat, but PC was in control the whole night. PC does need to eliminate the penalties, I will have to say there were a couple of calls they probably ;) did not deserve.

Was it me or did it take a long time to play that game? 3hrs. is way to long for a HS football game. I have never seen an officials crew that looked so out of sorts. Every flag they had to have a conference. Just seemed like they were never in a hurry.

Oh well.

SW needs to get back to fundamental football. Blocking & Tackling.

I was at this game and I have a few comments. If anyone saw a big guy in a yellow polo standing on Southwestern's sideline....well that was me.

I went with the officiating crew to the game and was in the locker room before the game, at halftime and after the game. The call on the long TD for Pulaski County was a good call. I thought a little bit of an acting job was done, but that was after the push in the back by the PC player.

As far as the officiating crew goes, they could have called WAY MORE penalties than they did. If you're going to argue about the game length, then you might want to say something to the play calling of Southwestern....having Wooldridge drop back and chuck it 40+ yards at a time when he's not on target all night, thus having one of the officials to chase down the ball (which is part of his duties) will make the game go longer. As far as the officials huddling after every call...I would rather that they do this and get the right call made instead of quickly making a call and then doubting himself over it.

As far as the game goes, I was most impressed with the line play of PC on both sides of the ball. The D-line did a great great job of not letting Wooldridge get comfortable in the pocket which was also added by some fairly good DB play as well. The PC O-line gave Muse some much needed time to hit the open receiver + it opened up some nice lanes for Muse and the other backs to run through.

Muse is a REALLY nice athlete. Very quick. Good vision of the field. The only draw back that I saw was the time it takes him to throw the ball. His motion is a little slower than I would like to see BUT once it is released, he zips it right in there.

One observation that I did make about the SW fans that I was near....one father in particular (I won't name names)...well let's just say that he was no further than 10 yards from the coaching staff the entire night saying that this should be done and that should be done...he even went so far as to blatantly scream that the defensive backs coach should be fired after the secondary gave up the first two passing touchdowns. I think some things that close to the players shouldn't be said...to me, it put a damper on the entire night. But then again, that's just my opinion on that situation.

Southwestern only had 55 offensive plays (34 pass) however the officials "dillydallied" every time there is a penalty called. Three hours is way too long for a HS football game. I agree, that I want them to get it right, however not every penalty calls for a conference. As far as more penalties being called you could say that about any game. How many times has it been said that there is "holding on every play?"

This crew had a tough time making the definitive decision. The best example was following a 10 yard run by Wooldridge that went out of bounds on the PC sideline. The ball was picked up and thrown to the hash. Then the officials look at it and try to decide if its a first down or not. After 10-15 seconds of discussion the ball is picked up again and moved half way between the hash and the sideline. The Ref. then looks at it again, starts to signal for the chains and stops. He then walks out between the hash marks, looks at the ball then the chains a couple of times and finally turns and signals a first down. The ball is then tossed back to the hash mark and the chains are moved. This whole process took about 2.5-3 minutes and we did not even measure. I am really sick of seeing officials throw the ball around 2 or 3 times before they measure. And I have seen it at least 4 times in the last two seasons.

As far as the call for the push in the back, the player himself said he took a dive and that he was not touched, brilliant move on his part and I don't fault the official for the call, because he called what he saw.

I understand and agree with you about the SW parent.

Bucknut, I agree.. How can you make a measurement after you have moved the ball twice if not three times.
