September 30, 200719 yr I really like the fact that they only allowed 10 points. They definitely needed that. How did Brohm play?
September 30, 200719 yr Glad to see that cards won this one. I thought they would win by atleast two tds but thought it would be a score more like 38 - 21. Ten points....thats a nice showing for their d.
September 30, 200719 yr Congrats to the Cardinals. Hopefully this will get the Cards season turmed around. I didn't get to see the game, was it a case of the Cards defense being much improved, or a case of NC State's offense being pretty bad, or a little of both?
September 30, 200719 yr GREAT improvements on the defensive side of the ball. Let's turn this ship around! We still have a shot at the Big East title! They got a lot of help with Rutgers and WVA losing too. Does anyone know how many yards Brohm finished with? I know he didn't have typical Brohm numbers at half which is why I'm interested.

September 30, 200719 yr Two huge improvements in this game were defense (especially tackling and pressure on the quarterback) and game discipline (only 6 penalties for 60 yards). The defense did a great job of wrapping up ball carriers and breaking up passes (although I have to admit that the wolfpack receivers were pretty ham-handed). Several sacks and (gasp) a few interceptions. Great effort and turnaround. I was very happy to see it. I also noticed that there was no jawing by the U of L players, particularly after they had made a tackle. No cheap shots. They usually helped the NC State players up to their feet, which was a great show of sportsmanship. The offensive performance, with the exception of the powerful running of Bolen and run-blocking by the line, was very uneven today. I was disappointed in the number of drives that stalled and ended in FG attempts. Also disappointed by the number of overthrown passes by Brohm--what's up with that? At one point in the 3rd quarter, Louisville had been outgained something like 150 yards to 24 yards and Brohm was 1 for 6 passing in the 2nd half. Thank goodness they finally got a spark going and got some clock-burning drives going. NC State handed them the game on a silver platter with 5 turnovers, but we came away with FG's or no points several times. That needs to be improved if we are to have a chance against our conference schedule. We should have hung 50+ points on that team today. Not having Harry Douglas probably payed a big role. Very encouraging improvements in defense and penalties. Still need to get the offense rolling consistently to be competitive against our Big East schedule. Go Cards!
