By no means was I taking up for Boyd County having kids from Ramey Home either, but they are in our school district and we welcome those kids with open arms.

 

You really dont want to get into a comparison of who has had the most transfers, yes all schools have them at sometime or another, but not rebuild every year...Plus, I have many friends there, many that their kid play all thru elementary school then took a backseat to a Transfer...

 

Once again, no bash to anyone at RH, there are great people and kids there, but you guys keep saying you are so pure and no wrong, but who you keep trying to convince all us Public schools or yourself?

 

Tell me your top 10 players and I can probably tell you where they went to Elem School at...And I know at least 5 that did not attend there.

 

This quote came from BCStorm in the 16th region thread. I am responding here so I don't get that thread shut down. Of the top ten players at Rose Hill, and this may not be everyones top ten, Eauton, Jackson, Fuller, Arthur, Malloy, Bush, Barber, Quackenbush, Gambill, and Davis, eight attended Rose Hill grade school. One started after his family moved to the area while he was in junior high. The tenth started as a freshman. I would say this is comparable to other teams in the region.

Also keep in mind if not for a tragic death then the number of kids who attended grade school at Rose Hill may have been nine with only one starting as a freshman.

Something people don't want to admit to is even OJ and the gang attended grade school at Rose Hill.

Even though I spent some time on this I still believe it is silly. Rose Hill has lost more athletes than they have gained. Ashland, Russell, Raceland, East Carter, Boyd Co., Fairview, and Greenup Co. Have all benefited from transfers from Rose Hill. The door swings both ways.

I think it's great that we have so many posters from neighboring schools who are interested in Rose Hill athletics.

Golden Gopher, we all are aware of your loyalty to Ashland and its schools. However, even in light of that, you surely don't believe what is contained in your post. Teachers and parents in your beloved system certainly tell a different story. I see a lot of Ashland students in juvenile court. On the other hand, it is rare for me to see any from Rose Hill or Holy Family.

 

I'm not knocking your schools. I am merely being realistic. By their very nature, government schools will always have more and more serious problems than will private schools.

 

And, as to the morals vs. ethics issue, if you really believe it holds "no water", you are uninformed and, I suspect, you know better.

 

Still, you are one of the parties "interested" in the motivation of families for sending their children to RH. All I did was to give you a few of the reasons. Now, I again ask, why do you care? I suspect you are aware of how RH's younger athletes have fared against your kids in the last four or five years (even in middle school football) and you are, shall we say, "concerned". Am I not correct?

Yes they are because of where they work and what they portray to the public. I'm sorry it may not be right, but they just are held to the same standards as ministers. If a coach wears a shirt that has a cross and says Pray Hard and they challenge a fan to fight in the parking lot after the game then their witness is shot down in my eyes. It is just the truth whether you like it or not people expect more of them.

Being a Christian School I think they should be held to a higher standard, just as teachers and others in the puplic schools should be are we not here to teach and teach by example.

That can be said of any school. I think that people need to understand that Rose Hill is a christian school not a school of christians. I have been associated with Rose Hill School for almost twenty years and don't regret a minute of it. I went to public schools and can remember my parents talking about the school board and administration at the school system I attended(not some other system), so even in public school they can go about things in the wrong way. When I first started my kids at Rose Hill nothing was never mentioned about Rose Hill good or bad. Now that they have the potential of winning some basketball games suddenly Rose Hill and its administration are doing things the wrong way.

I could care less either way. Rose Hill has theirs, Ashland and everyone has theirs. It will play out in the end. I would just like to see everyone agree to disagree and drop it.

The misconception is that because you are part of a Christian school, you should always turn the other cheek, never fight back. And that may be Christ-like, and I hope we all are striving to be that, the fact remains that we are all flesh. And with regards to the incident in the parking lot. The fact here remains that Rose Hill has potential to be a major player in this region athletically for many years. Some struggle with that. And that's okay. Rose Hill's success has gone in cycles usually due to the influx of transfers. If spindoc is right they are building something with stone instead of sand this time.

Only time will tell.

I do feel keeping Coach Fraley in the head coaching position has provided stability that could lead to an extended stay in the upper echelon of the region.

Has Rose Hill applied to play varsity football with the KHSAA in the coming years?

I'm not arguing or discussing the quality of kids or athletes, I believe that Rose Hill should have an excellent season. I don't believe that they are a school of christians entirely. I just personally feel like they have some people in adminstration that don't handle conflict the right way. For Instance the Freshman AIT they brought their varsity kids(which I have no problem with) they played them and got to the championship only to have to forfeit because of the consecutive night rule with the KHSAA. The AD should have known the situation. A certain boys coach that challenges people to fights, Jed believe it or not I was there and it did happen. Coach Fraley has been lucky to inherit some great young talent, but Cubster let's not sail his ship to the promise land yet until they reach the 16th Region Tourney or the All A state. And with Ashland, Fairview, and Boyd Co. they may not go to the Region this year.
