gold sunrise, did you read the Winchester Sun today?

"We came out flat"...quotes from Coach Columbia...second straight week. Sounds like he is blaming the kids. Bottom line he and his staff are compensated fairly well to coach these kids and motivate them to play football. Came out flat against a rival...ridiculous...then to do it after losing to your rival...unforgiveable?

There are issues on that staff, maybe if all the coaches would come to practice everyday and give great effort the kids would be more motivated. If the staff is lax, then the players are going to see right through them and come out lax.

I think their "flat" performance through the first two games is quite indicative that their are some serious coaching issues at GRC.

This week I can agree to them coming out flat, but in the first week against MC I disagree. GRC was in no way flat, didn't they score on like the 3rd play of the game or something to that nature? They were leading the whole game until midway through the 4th quarter as well.

Agree to disagree....and I will leave it at that.

I have a relative who is a doctor in Winchester and loves the Cards. Get great info from her and my brother in law, who is a booster at the school, and played for Guy Strong.

Lastly, I just don't like when coaches come off as blaming players...and that is the impression I get. We were flat...we were flat...that is a coaching responsibility to get your teams ready to play. Don't blame the kids.

I saw Lloyd Carr take full responsibility in losing to Appy State...Coach Columbia should absorb a lot of it himself.

GRC is far better than their 0-2 record shows.

I truly do not believe that Paul was blaming the players... You know how some people can interpret things one way and others another.... and maybe others are just looking for something.

Paul Columbia is a class person, administrator and coach. Do I agree with all of his decisions he makes as a coach ..no...but he is the coach and I will support him. I have never met a coach that pleased everyone. I know this first hand as my husband used to be a coach. You remember.... the one that should take his rockin-chair.

letabrotherspeak, it's truely sad to see anyone say that the coaches do not try to motivate their players or that they are blaming anyone for a loss. There are many players who read what we write on this site and to place blame on the coaches only places doubt within the locker room; in which case, no one wins. The coaches at GRC coached their hearts out on Friday night and the entire week and wanted nothing more than for their team to win. This is what they will continue to do this entire season. Like coaches from ALL teams, they take time away from their families and other responsibilities because of their love of the game and the belief in their team. The coaches who are at the practices are dedicated and work hard for their players. Your comments are unfounded and unappreciated by the true CARDINAL FANS.

Gold Sunrise, you are correct. There isn't a coach around that pleases everyone all the time. Coaches are not Gods and they make mistakes. We have to make a choice to support the coaching staff and stand behind the team, not belittle them.

And yes, letabrotherspeak, GRC is better than their 0-2 record. There is no argument there.

I think the statement by Coach Columbia in the Winchester Sun was just a simple observation of what happened against Harrison Co. They were Flat. (Missed passing opprotunities, running game, special teams).

Even the best prepared teams during practice can still come out flat at game time. How we adjust to the changes during this time is different.

We must support our coaches (even if some are not well liked...........). This is for the good of the players, and the good of the team. I am sure Coach Columbia will make the necessary adjustments to get the Cards back on the winning road, and if he needs to he will make the necessary adjustments on the coaching side. He is a good man and cares deeply about this sport and the success of the GRC football program.

WELL SPOKEN MNCM!!!:thumb: :thumb:

Congrats to HC, there is a great season ahead of you.

With GRC, the talent is there! It looked like they haven't found the TEAM aspect of the season, several players seemed to be playing for themselves.

GRC has to believe in the team and trust each other. Even with the loss, there were improvements from the prior week, defense looked better....can't wait to see how you do next week. Great improvement takes time, not just one week. Hold your head up GRC, we believe in you!!!!!!!

As to the comment about "staff and their preparation", GIVE ME A BREAK! Know something about what you are saying before you post comments like that!

Gold Sunrise-It was nice to finally meet you, see you next week!

Yes...there is definitely some talent there. But from what I've seen...lack of execution, mental toughness and questionable play calling are real concerns.

It didn't look like the Clark staff had their kids ready to play.

If GRC plays like they are capable of, GRC wins by atleast 1 or 2 tds. thumb:

You really need to look that things more objectively. Not sure as to what game you watched...but....like it or not...If Harrison plays to their capabilities...they very easily could have put up 2-3 additional scores. There,s really no need in playing the woulda, coulda, shoulda game.

It was just my opinion, like it or not. Harrison probably could have put up 2-3 additional scores, but they didnt. I said if GRC played like they are capable of they win this game, but they didn't. Don't see why so many people are bashing me just because of my opinion. Anyways the games over with and done and Harrison won. Congrats.

I mean no ill-will towards the GRC staff. From all I know Coach C is a fantastic human being. He is a pretty solid football coach, but something has gone awry recently.

True, this may not be the forum to air certain things, but it also shouldn't be the place to "sugarcoat" things.

Frankly, I hope they win the rest of their games...

I follow GRC from afar...their hoop team had a great year, and their baseball team had a fantastic season...unfortunately PLD was not such a gracious winner.

Hopefully, the GRC football team will right their ship.

The GRC senior class was the best freshman football team I saw play just three years ago. They had a solid nucleus as freshman to win big in 2007.

What has happened in Winchester?

That Freshman football team (now all Seniors) went 9-1 in 2004 and the loss was an overtime loss to Scott Co. (in Scott Co.). They were an impressive team.
