September 13, 200719 yr Some friends of mine, connected to U of L say the plans for this arena were held up a couple of times, and revised, due to negotiations with the NCAA regarding the hosting of regionals and potentialy a Final Four!! The "power-to-be" in the 'Ville wanted to make sure the new arena would comply with the criteria to host the "Big Ones"!! I bet that with the new arena we are likely to see some NCAA regional finals hosted in Louisville. But isn't the capacity of the arean only around 22,000. IMO, no way will that arena ever see a final four. The Championship game has not had an attendence of less than about twice that since 1996 when it was at the Continental Airlines Arena. They have already scheduled future venues thru 2011 all of which are at football stadiums.
September 14, 200719 yr Any word on if the Sweet Sixteen will start alternating sites again or not, when the Arena gets open? It does look like a fax machine, but I think it wii be great.
