Corbin/Clay Scrimmage

Featured Replies

Clay is a average team, both QB are good high school players, I don't think that they are any better than the Greer kid that played a Williamsburg. Greer was a good High school player and nothing else. Corbin is much better this year, but if we depend on Cashen arm to win big games wewill be disappointed. We must beable to run the ball, maybe get out some old film from the 70's and 80's. I thought our line looked much better, run behind them and let's win a state championship.

If Clay is average, so is Corbin. Clay limped into this game with some KEY players banged up, therefore worked on some things (running game) while going full speed against an average team, something they can't get done in practice. I'm sure Corbin had a few watching from the sidelines too. My point is this; Why go all out to win a stupid scrimmage and pass up the opportunity to get in some valuable work where needed? Clay has a lot of key personnel that has to go both ways. The staff made a wise decision IMO in the way they treated the SCRIMMAGE.

What exactly do you mean by the bolded comment about Greer? I hope it's not some kind of cheap shot toward him or Clay's QB's.

No...check the record books...Greer was a great high school QB. He benefited from a good system, but without a solid technique base and brains one can not do well in that system...Those intangibles are what makes a player great, you just can't measure it.

No doubt about it Cashen is a solid QB, and from the stats the kid at Clay is, but I wouldn't crown either Mr. Football just yet...it is a long season. But Clint is one heckuva hard worker and a good kid; he will have a very good year.

did any of the younger kids play any?
The Corbin coaches were talking about Clay's fresh. qb and rb. Clay's jv did well.

THe second half was the JV game, I think it was

Clay 14

Corbin 8

As for Clays QB this is just is junior year, so you have alot to see from him yet. Lewis is a good kid, with a good head on his shoulders and I personally think his senior year he will be one of the best players in the state.

I would love to see a regular season game between Clay and Corbin, remember Clay is a passing team they did not hardly pass the ball in this scrimage. I think it would be a good game if played in regular season. Stepp seems to not care if he wins or loses the scrimages.

I have seen Lewis play many times and he is gifted at throwing the football, he is the type of player that he makes the players around him better...

Both teams scored once it was 8-8

No, Clay Cos JV scored right as the buzzer went off... #44 ran it for the TD...

It didn't count, he went down at the one yard line.
