6A Rankings (BGP) Discussion

Featured Replies

I'm not talking about the last five years ... if you go back far enough, you can find losses like that for just about anyone. That playoff loss to John Hardin in 2005 was to the team that nearly knocked off St. Xavier the next week.

Since Chris Wolfe has been at PRP, they've consistently been among the top 10 teams in 4A, aside from the year they lost their very good RB at midseason. But when you play in a district with St. Xavier, Male and Manual, you're going to take some losses.

I've seen PRP in person the last couple of years and I can honestly say they have been overrated at times. I've seen Ryle play the following week after PRP for the last two seasons and PRP is no where near as good as Ryle has been the past two years. And I know PRP could not have stayed with in 3 touchdowns of Henry Clay the past two years. They are a good team but not great.

I don't know if I'd call it a monster schedule, but it's certainly going to be an interesting one for them. Seems to only get tougher each week (not to start a T vs X thing, I'm just saying in general).

My feelings towards PRP are mixed. I have sympathy of them being part of the meatgrinder, but I also think they haven't made things as interesting as hoped for the past couple of years.

I understand your point and agree. Cathedral is a power in IN, I believe in 3A. But they could play with just about anyone in the state.

I believe PRP definitely has the schedule to prepare them for the playoffs.

That's quite an indictment of PRP. Based on last year's Ryle team, I find that hard to believe, but I haven't seen PRP play. Rather, I've only heard of their talent from X supporters.

I'm just curious, what does X or Male have coming back (returning starters) from last year to give them a # 2 or #3 ranking? These two teams may have more than Trinity (total of 8 returning starters), but Trinity deserves and #1 ranking after the last several years.

Hmmmm.....X, T and H have been the only teams to win the 4A state title in the past 10 years while every year when one wins the other 2 are considered to be the two next best teams but the Rocks are the only team deserving their ranking according to recent history. Interesting.

In the past 10 years Trinity has won as many as X and Male put together.

What you say is quite true, but get ready...a new era is dawning beginning in 2007. :D

^ Has Glaser retired? NO? Then the new era has not begun yet :D

Has that danged pendulum started trying to swing again?

I'm just wondering when is Harmon and his coaching staff goin to get some respect. I hear they have one of the best classes ever coming up to the varsity level in the class of 09. Henry Clay as usual get's the higher ranking but Lafayette continues to beat them year after year.

Once again you are correct...the pedulum is starting to swing again...tick-tock, tick-tock. It's the dawn of a new Tiger Age! :D

By the way, once the pedulum has definitively moved to it's correct Tiger orientation, our engineering staff will convert the clock to a perpetual motion machine.

Ox you better hire some T engineers to show you how to do that yours have been trying for years and can't figure it out.

Does anyone have information on this year's Male team? How many starters return? Best players? Strengths? Weaknesses?

Also, what is the general feeling about the 6A rankings? Would you say it is a three team race, two teams, or is it one team's to lose? Specify the teams, and if possible try to keep the X-T carping out of it. I know for some that is difficult. :D

You are right about Coach Harmon seeming to have Henry Clay's number for the past couple of years. However, the Generals seem to have a phoebia when it comes to the Playoffs, where they are one-and-done for the past couple years against teams that they should have beaten (Woodford County and South Laurel).

I believe that the real reason Henry Clay is once again ranked higher in Preseason is that, if you layout and analyze both the returning and upcoming talent for both teams, Henry Clay is just more impressive than Lafayette on paper.

Henry Clay gets beat by Lafayette because of bad pass defense plan and simple.
