5A 2007 Playoff Scenario

Featured Replies

32, I think you are sandbagging a tad bit by not mentioning Dixie:jump: . Dixie's been playing in the big boys league for the last how many years? Plus, for all the hype we Highlands fans like to give to the three classes making up our team being undefeated as frosh the last 3 years, the Dixie folks know as well as we do that in all three of those years, the Dixie frosh have given the Birds frosh all they can handle. The Birds seniors beat the Dixie seniors when they were frosh 7-0 by scoring with less than a minute left.

Reading what has been posted on the 2007 DH thread, it seems like the kids on the Dixie squad have been working their tails off, more so than past Dixie squads. I know the Birds aren't taking Dixie as lightly as they have in the past and that should tell folks something about Dixie's team this year. I don't know much about the BG team this year, but if you are going to say that Highlands is the No. 1 team in 5A this year, Dixie is No 1B.

I wouldn't go that far now , in our district I'll place Dixie 3rd behind the BIRDS #1 and Covcath # 2 . But in any other district, Dixie would be a 1 or 2 . The one thing I'm looking foward to this year , is seeing Highlands play at Dixie ! This years SR's have always played at Highlands . Theres alot of good football teams in 5A this year , it'll be fun to watch !:thumb:

Do I this year? No. The entire "skilled" position kids will all be new starters, except for Griffith, the rest are the J.V guys from last year. Also, not to mention the loss of few kids named Cory Jackson, Brandon Ford and Donald Walker. You might have noticed them?!:jump: :thumb:

And this year is the opportunity for those JV guys to be "noticed" they have earned it.

As kind as your words are, and as much as I'd like to graciously accept them, those of us Red Colonels that have been around awhile know that you have to earn what HHS has. To this point, we haven't earned the right that the Blue Birds have when it comes to pre-season rankings. With that said, I will be the first to tell you that when we do I won't be shy at letting anyone know. This TEAM can beat anybody in the state, if they play as one, but this is a new season and we haven't beaten anyone yet.

The cupboard is full and the table is set, but if you don't sit down to eat as a family what good is it?

You can have the greatest athletes in the world step on the field and if they don't play as a TEAM they won't win the close ones. We've played HHS and others in the past with what I considered far superior talent and lost. This years squads are not seperated by much in that regard so coaching and TEAM work will probably decide the winner when these two schools meet. IMO Tom and Dale are two of the finest coaches in the state, so it's going to come down to the latter.

Good Luck this year Blue Birds and believe or not I hope to play you twice again in the same year!

I disagree with CCH being ahead of Dixie. They lost a ton of seniors and a head coach. The Blue Colonels are putting in a totally new offense and have as of yet to figure out the QB position for sure as far as I know. But CCH is CCH, their kids know the value of TEAMWORK and will get it together before the end of the year and make it very interesting. Should be a heck of a playoffs in the first two rounds, but it's kinda sad that only one of the top 10 teams in our Class will still be alive in round three.
