Phillies 1 loss away from a record 10,000 losses in franchise history.

They would be the first professional sports team to reach that unfortunate goal.

When I heard the stat I couldn't believe it. Being a Cubs fan, I figured they passed that total decades ago.

Kind of what I was thinking too HC :D Glad we werent, how many do the cubs have?

9,425 through the AS Break

Phillies - 9,999

Braves - 9,681

Cubs - 9,425

Pirates - 9,339

Reds - 9,338

Cardinals - 9,156

Dodgers - 8,932

Giants - 8,681

Orioles - 8,628

Twins - 8,557

A's - 8,456

Tigers - 8,151

White Sox - 8,139

Indians - 8,066

Devil Rays - 929 (and gaining fast)

The Reds standing is pretty good when considering they started playing (and I presume counting losses) first. Party at my house in 319 Brave losses. :D

Reds will get there before the Cubs will :D

With the Reds current "direction" I would agree with that. The Cubs may find new ways to choke, but at least they have a winning season every couple years.

Will there be a keg?

Before Atlanta went on that tear (1991-2005), they were on pace to reach before Philadelphia. Following the 1990 season, Atlanta had 8,662 losses and Philly had 8,640.

Looks like 10,000 will come tonight, there down 10-0 in the top of the 8th right now.

Will there be flat beer and stale chips in the Phillie clubhouse celebrating the loss?

What suprised me a little is when they said that the Braves were next in line after the Phillies for this. I believe the Cubs were ahead of them. The Braves did have some pitiful years in Atlanta though and I am not sure about their records when in Millwaulkee (spelling?).
