4:30-----Paris vs. Grant Co. Paris over Grant Co.

For some reason I thought Grant took 3 of the 4 qtrs over Paris. Maybe 2 qtrs...they went by qtrs & then re-set to 0-0 for each, so overall totals, I don't really remember for sure. Were all the games played at the Panorama that way? Start at 0-0 for each qtr?

You MUST start each quarter over at 0 or cannot be counted as a scrimmage per KHSAA guidelines.

 

If you keep a total score till the end of the game, I think it has to be counted as a game towards your regular season allotment of games.

Yeah, some parents keep score, points, assists, fouls, rebounds, turnovers, the number of times the coached walked past their child without talking to them.:lol:

 

As long as that big scoreboard on the wall, doesn't keep a tallying score throughout the scrimmage, it is just a scrimmage.

You can keep a total running score but if you do then you must make an adjustment in the way time is kept. Play 2 - 16 minute halfs or some other type of adjustment.

24mom, you are correct that the scores were reset at each quarter. I do think you were also correct that the quarters were split between Paris and Grant. The overall margin was in Paris' favor if I do remember correctly. I could be wrong though.

I know Mason beat Franklin and Mason was without 2 starters due to sickness.

 

 

 

I scouted that game and Franklin beat Mason by a combined score of 79-56. At one time in the 3rd quarter Franklin was up like 22-7 in that quarter alone.

Let's talk about price to get in the door....5 bucks. There were five in my party. 3 of them students, still 5 bucks. A total of $25 to watch a scrimage. Wow! and we only watched one game. I know Paris probably did this as a fundraiser, but really, it was a scrimage. Couldn't they have lowered the admission price a little? I have been to several other scrimages where there was no adnission charge.

 

If you were going to stay all day, you could probably justify it but I don't think many people stayed all day unless they had to be there. I think most people watched their team and left.

Thanks! All I remember is that it wasn't the most high scoring game I ever saw. Could be why I don't know what the totals overall were, but I am thinking that it was probably a 10pt margin. There was quite a bit of experimentation going on for both sides. In fact, it was hard to tell what either team is going to be like when regular season comes around. My kid said that she was trying to run plays & sets all the way through & not necessarily taking opportunities, just working on rotations, etc. I don't know if that is good or bad, but it is a scrimmage, which is the time to run sets all the way through to see where breakdowns are, etc, etc.

They unfortunately do not receive money that other county and city schools receive, therefore they use opportunities like this to raise money. They also did not limit outside food, so teams and individuals did purchase pizza and other food that did not go towards their funds. Nobody was forced to watch the games and while it may seem high, you will find the same thing at other panorama's across the state.

The programs I am familiar with receive money for bus costs, coaches salaries, uniforms, and referees with a little more for costs to run the program like buying basketballs.

At Williamstown, The coach's stipend and KHSAA dues are the only things that the Board pays for. Transportation, referees and equipment (new balls every other year or so) come out of the Athletics account. The Athletics account is funded by either gate sales or concessions. The board does not provide any $$$$ for Athletics. All money raised from the basketball gate goes into Athletics to help fund the programs that do not raise much revenue. For any uniforms, warm-ups, shoes, etc..., funds must be raised by the teams.

 

I understand where Paris is coming from. I have heard complaints from fans about ticket prices and such, but what they don't know is that if the schools don't charge what they do, there may not be a tean to watch.
