I am not saying that Nicholas Co. will be good, but they do have a new coach and I am very excited to see them play and see what they are going to look like.

I am curious on what funds other county and city schools receive that Paris does not.

 

The programs I am familiar with receive money for bus costs, coaches salaries, uniforms, and referees with a little more for costs to run the program like buying basketballs.

 

LBB, I have not been involved with any city or county schools, but my understanding, and it may be wrong, is that there are allotted funds, either through the state, county or city, that go directly to fund athletic teams. At private schools and independent schools they are soley responsible for raising their athletic budgets.

 

Again, I could be wrong, but this is my understanding of how different athletic programs are run in Kentucky.

 

FYI - At Paris, the coaching stipend is paid by the board and then they are allotted a very small amount of money, which is raised by an annual fundraiser by the city club for Paris and Bourbon county, to pay for travel, shoes, referees, equipment etc. The amount does not even come close to covering expenses for the season.
