HOMELESS CAMEL
BRIDGEVILLE, Calif. - The first town ever auctioned on eBay — and later sold on the online auction site a second time — is back on the market after the hamlet's latest owner committed suicide. A real estate agent handling the sale confirmed Friday that the tiny northern California town of Bridgeville, population about 30, is on the market for $1.3 million. The picturesque but dilapidated village on the Van Duzen River gained international notoriety five years ago when its 83 acres were put on the cyber-auction block — the first town ever up for auction on eBay. The town was once a hub for a local stagecoach route and a stop on the Pony Express. It now includes eight houses, a post office and a cafe. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070702/ap_on_re_us/town_for_sale

oldrambler
Just as long as they don't paint the town Red.   :thumb: Or have a cardinal as the "city bird" or an orange dog running around. If the color red would be alowed it would have to have some gray in with it. LOL Would have to include plenty of Blue Wildcats and we would plant plenty of "Buckeye" trees. oldrambler
The traffic would be a real problem and would have to be changed around. Being in California it would probably have all left hand (wing) turns :scared: .
HOMELESS CAMEL
Wonder how many of us it would take to come up with the money! We got a few gamblers here on the board, they just need to bet big money against the Reds the rest of the year and we are good to go.
UKPat02
Say we were to buy it, who would be appointed to city positions? For instance, who would be the jailer? Who would he have to arrest? Who is the mayor (Guru, I would assume)? Who would be the vagrants? I assume RP would own a restaurant. GT would be the local radio voice. Hearsay would be the city attorney. It could be fun... Hearsay
I like this idea. I'd bet we could get "BGPVille" for $1M. If we have 500 active members, they would need to contribute $2K apiece. I'm sure some of us could take up the slack for our younger brethren such that a college or high school buy in would only be $500 apiece. I know we have members with mayoral experience, we have plenty of CPA's, attorneys, engineers, teachers, and coaches. In fact, though it would probably be a California recruiting violation, I'm pretty sure we could field entire sports teams at the new BGP High School just out of membership. RP could open a heck of a restaurant. RM could run the hotel. Bluto could have his dealership and sing at the saloon by night. I think everyone on here needs to post what they believe position would be at BGPVille.
