July 3, 200719 yr Would you rather have a guy that pulls the trigger on a bad trade? Geez! Krivsky shopped in the offseason and didn't see anything that would benefit the organization. He even stated that in the press conference yesterday. Something along the lines of, "I wish I could've helped bring some more talent in but I couldn't find the right fit." IMO, another part of the bad fans in the Cincinnati area. It's a no win... Scenario 1: Trade for some mid-level talent that doesn't work out because they are just that...mid-level. Result: Fans complain that the organization can't judge talent and continue to overpay for mid-level talent. They think the organization has a horrible 'plan'. Scenario 2: Shop around and when mid-level talent is offered to you, decline it because you already have mid-level talent and you don't want to make changes just to make changes. Result: Fans complain that the organization hasn't made any changes and they don't have a true 'plan'. Just my take. I'm still a Krivsky fan at this point... I don't remember advocating pulling "the trigger" on bad deals. However I do advocate putting a winning ball club on the field. So I guess that puts me in the "non-fan" category when it comes to Krivsky.

The need for pitching is evident, so if they're unwilling to pay for talent, it can only mean two things. (1) They can't afford it (2) They couldn't find it....I have no idea which is accurate but this I do know, the Reds are in the same situation they were in '06 and fans are still expected to give their financial support to this franchise, without a hint of what is the organizational plan. Not fair, if you ask me, to expect the money and then not expect a competitive product on the field. How many of us, would buy a 1978 car, then expect it to perform admirably....

Here are the '06 Reds Roster, of just Pitchers.....I believe the total is 29. Arroyo, Belisle, Bray, Burns, Calssuen, Coffey, Cormier, Franklin, Germano, Gosling, Guardado, Hammond, Harang, Jason Johnson, Sun Woo Kim, Lohse, Majewski, Mayes, Mercker, Michalak, Milton, Ramirez, Schoeneweis, Shackleford, Standridge, Weathers, White, Williams, Yan..... Now, with 29 pitchers used, one could say, every effort was made to bring in effective pitchers or someone, couldn't judge talent very well....perhaps, a little of both.
July 3, 200719 yr This coming offseason will be very telling about how Krivsky is going to fair. There are a lot of solid players that are going to be available, he better make the effort to bring in some of them, or he's going to be on the other end of yesterday's press conference IMO.
