Henderson County Open Again!

I for one would hope so. Apparantly he made a commitment to Henderson Co. (Did he sign a contract). I think at some point you have to be accountable for your actions, or your word doesn't mean much. If your not sure about taking the job than don't accept. I know I couldn't quit my job and expect it to be waiting for me a couple of days later.

Even if he signed a contract by law he has three days to recant...

strike, I respect you and your posts most of the time. But this argument is so weak it's comical. It's not just you, I've seen this many times.

Clearly the jobs normal schleps like you and I have are different than a Head Coach of a sports team.

IMO, it's the nature of the beast.

Why do we accept it as just the "nature of the beast"???

Isn't coaching about more than just what goes on , on the field???

What kind of life lesson is this teaching his players???

Not the point. I couldn't care less about the contract.

I'll second that. It is the principal of the matter.

Did you ever think that maybe what he was teaching them was that he cared enough about them to come back instead of taking a job at a much bigger school?

If that was true he wouldn't have excepted the job to start with.

Or is he teaching them that his word (or contract) mean absolutely nothing???

When he accepted the job he hadn't yet had to face his players, their parents and his assistants and see how much they were affected by this. He's got a son that is still in high school and I'm sure that had some effect on his final choice as well. Maybe he and Coach Donovan don't deserve medals for their actions but they also don't deserve to be villified for changing their minds and giving up what on the surface looks to be a better opportunity to follow their hearts. I hate it for Henderson Co. but I'm glad for the Somerset kids.

He was aware that he had a son in high school and would be leaving former players behind when he accepted the job. If he hadn't already considered these issues, he never should have accepted the job in the first place.

Isn't he or anyone, allowed to change his mind. We make decisions every day, where to eat, shop, bank, etc....People often take a job, find out they don't like it and leave.

Sounds like, he accepted and changed, for whatever reason. His choice, but it does affect both schools.

STRIKE3 and strike-3, your usernames are confusing!!!
You should see him, at the dinner table....:D

Sometimes things sound better until you have to actually see the effect that it has on other people. I've made plenty of choices that I've regretted over the years he had a chance to go back and change one of his. None of us were with him the last few days to see what he did or to know what he was thinking. It does not fall to us to judge him. Perhaps we should move our focus to Henderson County's plan B.

I don't believe that's true in all contracts tigerpaw...just try to get out of a car purchase three days later and seee what happens.

Like I said, I will reserve judgement until I hear all sides of the story.
