June 8, 200719 yr If that is what it takes... The bottom line is you don't know what you don't know so if you need to investigate what happened so you can make informed decisions on behalf of the NFL. Is there a past precedent for doing this (conducting investigation of matter that is no longer in the criminal arena)?
June 8, 200719 yr Which also gives a lot of legitimacy to any and every false claim. Remember perception trumps reality these days... Do you think, GT, that a)he was never there or was a taxi ride for his brother and b)two dudes and a girl sat around and finally decided to make up a story against Odell ?

I think I wasn't there so I have nothing to assume until I hear otherwise. I know this didn't even make it 4 days. So "ir"regardless of Thurman's past all we know is the beat down claim is bogus. From there I'll wait for more if there is any. Small town Georgia. Have some more fun guessing if you must...

June 8, 200719 yr When it comes to claims like this I tend to stop at wrong guess #1... You haven't guessed yet so take your freebie. Was he there or not?
June 8, 200719 yr Which also gives a lot of legitimacy to any and every false claim. Remember perception trumps reality these days... Which is exactly why you do the investigation. You don't if it is a false claim and you don't know what reality is in this case. The NFL should investigate all claims like this and then put their cards on the table. This is no different than the KHSAA not hiring more investigators and finding the truth. All it does is allow for more speculation, rumor, innuendo, and flat out bad information to circulate and that is bad for everyone.

The NFL will be going above and beyond the law in cases like rape and extortion...
June 8, 200719 yr Is there a past precedent for doing this (conducting investigation of matter that is no longer in the criminal arena)? Teams do backrounds on players, the follow players around, etc. I don't know if there is precedent but maybe it is time to set one. Either way, if the NFL is serious about their image they have to investigate claims like this.
June 8, 200719 yr I can't even confirm he was out of rehab and back home... So your concern is that two dudes and a girl might have made this up despite Odell being in rehab? Wouldn't that be pretty easy to prove?

June 8, 200719 yr You haven't guessed yet so take your freebie. Was he there or not? I'll take a freebie shot just for fun and only because I guessed the extortion angle in another thread before it became public:ylsuper: Thurman was there. Just too risky and too stupid to make up the entire thing and leave youself open to filing false police report charge. There was an altercation - probably just a small tussle - in which Thurman or one of his posse was involved. The other parties - "victims" is probably an overstatement - didn't contact police right away because: 1) it really wasn't all that big of a deal; and/or 2) there were illegal drugs involved and they couldn't really afford to call police at that time, and/or 3) they sat around and came up with the clever idea of trying to blackmail Thurman first and needed to wait until morning to try to contact him. Obviously, the extortion thing didn't go too well. I'm guessing the prosecutor politely "suggested" to our "victims" that given their failed extortion attempt, it might be better to let sleeping dogs lie. Ergo, complaints are withdrawn. Just a freebie guess. But . . one would hope that it would be a learning experience for Thurman. Unfortunately, he impresses me as someone with the IQ of a doorknob and just have this feeling that he won't be able to stay out of trouble for long. But everyone (most everyone) grows up at some point and maybe this is his point.
June 8, 200719 yr The KHSAA is looking at a change of residence. The NFL will be going above and beyond the law in cases like rape and extortion... My point is instead of hiring more investigators and digging deep into every complaint the "KHSAA" has stuck the state with some garbage proposals based on perception. That perceptions may be reality in many cases but we will never know. Same thing with the NFL, why settle for perception when you can have reality. You can't control what ignorant people think but the NFL can find the truth and if they are serious about their image they need to investigate all complaints like this.
