Question:

Quarter finals, 4 games on Monday

Semi Finals, Wednesday 2 games I assume

When is the Championship game?

I think Thursday. Freedom plays at home Saturday so they're using Friday as a rain day...I believe...

Sounds right .

Sure would love to see a Boone -Dixie and Newport -Beechwood on 1 side of the bracket .I know RHS and CCH do not want this but I bet everybody else does .Best of luck and health to all .Whoever wins the 9th go all the way !!!!

You have to play the top ranked teams at some point in the tournament at some point, so why night right away. You just might see a few #1 pitchers in the semi's and 2's in the quarters, which may not be a bad ideal because the #1 could throw Monday and again in the Championship game.

(depending on innings pitched)

I think that the Regional will be held on Mon., Tues., and Wed. That's how it has been in years past. The Freedom website states the same.

Big guess:

Newport/Boone**Boone

CCH/Ludlow****CCH

Dixie/BHS******BHS

Ryle/HHS******Ryle

Boone/CCH*****CCH

Ryle/BHS******Ryle

CCH/Ryle

9th Region Champs***CCH

Are these the actual matchups or are you just guessing at them?

Draw is not until Saturday at noon at Ryle, it's just his guess.

Sorry, but I disagree. I think it would be an absolute shame if CCH and Ryle end up on the same side of the bracketing. They have clearly established themselves as the top two teams in NKY and for the brackets to be set up any other way than for them to be on a path to meet in the finals is just wrong. If someone else is going to make it to the finals, they should have to upset either Ryle or CC. Having either one of these schools knock the other one out pre-finals would be a shame.

Hey we are just happy to be here and looking foward to playing on Monday! We may not have the pitching this year but our 2 best are Juniors this year and we have some young talent moving up next year so our pitching will be great next year.Good luck Dixie and no matter what your still District champs this year!!

Your right, Dixie will be a team to be reckoned with next year, though if they pitch Nichols in round one, I would not be surprised to see them in the semi's and depending on the draw, they could make a run to the finals, IF Cov.Cath, Ryle, and Highlands are on the same side.

Which, if occurs, would be an absolute travesty.

I compeltly agree.

Again, to be the best you have to beat the best. You are going to throw your best anyway so why would you want to duck anybody. I get your point.

On some days everything you hit is an out and every ball they hit bounces their way and with a weaker team you might catch a few breaks, but this is the time of year that you have to play your best ball...or it's off to your summer team.

Right on DD. Anything can happen in this year's tourney.

So just to make sure I understand - it would have made total sense to match up Florida and OSU in the first round of the NCAA tournament since, as it turned out, Florida had to beat OSU in the final to be champions anyway? This, despite pretty much univeral agreement they were the top two teams in the country at the time? I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, as I will never be convinced the it makes any sense at all to match up what is likely to be your best two teams early in any tournament. It goes against all logic. The old "on any given day anyone can beat anyone" cliche doesn't hold up as much in tournament play.

Let me ask you this: Would you not think it at all odd/unfortunate if Ryle, CC, Highlands, and Beechwood (the #1, #2, #4, and #6 ranked NKY schools) made up one bracket and Boone (#8), Ludlow (#14), Dixie (unranked), and Newport (unranked) made up the other? Not at all?

If I understand right, CCH/BHS will be opposite brackets due to being in the same district. I understand what you are saying but unfortunately it is the luck of the draw since the region is not seeded. Can you imagine all the argueing and bickering that would go on at the mtg to seed the region? I would not want to be involved w/that.

Whoever said to be the best you have to beat the best, I agree! Whether it is in the first rnd or the finals. If you are the best it will come out that way.
