Congrats to Dixie for a hard fought come from behind victory! The boy's never gave up and played hard till the very end. Great job guy's you should be very proud. Some of the highlights in the win over Villa Madonna and Ludlow were Nichols & Cahill"s pitching and a 2 run homer by big Joe Schaeper, Lubrano going 4 for 7 and everyone getting at least a hit or a walk that ended up in a run. This was a true team effort!:dancingpa

I don't think Dixie strikes fear into any of these guys. I mean lets face it....the district is not exactly tough with the exception of a game against York. They didn't see him so again a cakewalk district. I would be more concerned about being a district winner and having to face York than facing Dixie.

York is a great pitcher. As is Nichols. And no the 34th isn't the toughest district in the world, but it is tournament time and if someone doesn't come ready to play, pitchers like York and Nichols can lead their team to upsets over someone who may be looking ahead to the next game.

They did however see him during regular season play, and won 7-0.

Dixie beat York 7-0 at Ludlow May 7th,Not sure why so nasty we were just saying way to go Dixie on your District game. Anyone can be beaten on any given day no matter who is pitching! That being said I will take Nichols any day of the week.Dixie you should be proud, you are the District champs!!:thumb:

Well first of all congrats to Dixie on a good comeback win. They were down 9 to 5 with 2 outs in the last inning to come back to win. Ludlow should have won this game, but I believe a coaching mistake cost them. Daniel Hammons for Ludlow was pitching a great game, and Dixie had very few hard hits off of him. Yet while only giving up 4 runs through 6 innings and I think only maybe 2 earned, the coach for Ludlow took out Hammons. The guys who came in after him had control problems and walked alot of Dixie guys and gave them a chance to come up with a hit once the bases were loaded by walks. Ludlow had the game won and let it slip away. However I tip my hat to Dixie because they never quit and kept fighting to the end!

I know I seen a couple of people say it, but I am pretty convinced that if Ludlow had won this district championship, it would have been full of people just saying how weak the district was this year. But since it was dixie who won it, very few people said it, and are now saying watch out for Dixie in the region....

I was at the game and feel as though Hammonds was losing it on the mound as well. While a few of the runs he gave up were unearned, he did look like he was losing his gas in the 6th inning, which most likely prompted the pitching change because he wanted a fresh arm to close out the last inning and you cannot anticipate the walks, especially up 5 runs.

Personally, I think that with York on the mound that Ludlow can be dangerous and people should watch out for them anyway. Not saying they will win but that they could make things interesting.

As for Dixie, with Nichols on the mound I believe that they can be dangerous as well and may have a bit better lineup to support him. However, I'm not sure what their pitching depth aside from him is. Again, not sure how far they can make a run but definitely could give someone a scare.

Let me say it then:

Its a TERRIBLE district. I hope it gets better.

That is irrelevant though since they're in the region tourney. They did what they had to do - win/come in 2nd in a bad district. Doesn't mean they can't win a game or 2 next week.

I have seen several people mention how weak the district is this year. I don't think it matters which team won. 3 teams with losing records in the region doesn't speak well to some of the districts up here but that's the way it is.
