Kentucky Colonels are generally one of the top teams in the state. Walt gets a lot of NKY's top talent.

Consider that 125-150 players tried out over a 2 day period.

Walt Terrill's Ky Colonels have unbelievable talent. Also, consider that his first consideration is not to win games. Winning is probably 4 or five on his list. His overiding objective is to get exposure and ultimately scholarships for his kids.

He told us that he only bunted 2 or 3 times all last summer and that was at the request of scouts, who wanted to see a particular player(s) get down the line. He tells his players that the scouts don't want to see them walk or bunt.

Walt will also leave a pitcher in despite him getting hit a bit so that the scouts can get a good look.

Walt does a nice job.

Does anybody have the Ky Colonels schedule????

Coach Myerhoff also has a very nice 16U summer ball team called the Erlanger Lions. Very solid team this year.

Who plays on this team? What HS?

They are now 4-0-1 as they tied in 12 innings the Cincinnati Stix by a score of 6/6. Darner of CovCath had two run scoring doubles to knock in Nutini of CovCath both times and Shanks St. Henry knocked in Darner both times also, for four of the six Colonles runs. Bleser started and gave up 5 of the 6 runs but other than a two run shot over the left field fence, most were bloops singles. Shanks came in and did a really good job for the rest of the games.

The more I see of second baseman Ricky Parrott Simon Kenton both in the field and at the plate the more I am impressed by him. If he already hasn't been signed by someone, then some college is really missing out on an outstanding player. He is a type of player that if you want to win, you need him on your team....

Hey CoachG sounds like a great tourney for the BGK:jump:

OldGuy, I heard Shanks actually threw 8 innings off relief in that game only giving up one run thats pretty impressive for someone who does not usually pitch.

Was it that many? :thumb: He indeed did a really good job. He is mostly playing SS and doing a great at it especially when I thought he mostly played 3B at St. Henry. I think that if Walt were in this just for winning games, The Kentucky Colonels would have won it in regulation, as a couple of times a different coach, looking for wins would have bunted the ball, but Walt isn't in this for W's and that is what is so great about him.

The Kentucky Colonels play at Thomas Moore College tonight at 6:30pm vs. the Kentucky Kings (18).

Wow, any idea how hard he was throwing? I know Walt usually has the gun on his pitchers.

Shanks has a great hard breaking curve.. I was very impressed watching him pitch the other day. I would say his fast ball is probably in the low 80's......

There are 5 from Beechwood, 1 from St Henry, 3 from Ryle, 2 from Scott and 1 from Brossart.

For whom exactly?

He topped out at around 86-87 but threw consistently the other day around 81-83

Kentucky Colonels lost their first game of the season Thursday against the Kentucky Kings (18) by a score of 7-6 in eight innings. Isler (CovCath) started and gave up two runs in the first but then settled down and put the Kings down in order in the second, and third. Kuebbing (St. Henry) came in the fourth and suffered the loss. This is the second game in a row that the Colonels have went into extra innings. While it was the Colonels first loss of the season, you can clearly see that Walt is in this for the kids, as the Colonles played twenty players, each playing about the same amount of innings, while the Kings played the same ten players the entire game.

Hitting stars of the game for the Colonels: Bleser (CovCath) had a single and a double, Maile (CovCath) hit a two run HR over the left field fence (340 guess) Elliott (Beechwood) had a triple and was sent home on a throwing error.

The Colonels play two today in the SWOL Tournament at Lincoln Lee Complex. First game is at 12:30 and second one at 3:30. That little thing called work, will keep me away....
