Top players in the 9th 07-08

Featured Replies

Arrez Henderson-Holmes he will be the man in the 9th region next season, as well as throughout the state.

I think Maile from CCH will turn some heads.

I figured I'd start the thread since it was mentioned in a previous one...

Good thread, but usually in threads like these the starter offers his/her opinions. Who do you think tops the list.

Henderson, Simpson, Grimes, and McFarland will probably lead the list.

Henderson is the best senior to be in the 9th for next year. He will be the only player that is pre-season all state or has a chance to be for next year.

I think Simpson may be the best all around player next year. But Henderson is the best athlete.

Stephen McFarland is a top 5 player, No doubt.

Corey Sorrel has to be the best 3pt shooter coming back, also a top 10 player. His teammate Shiwa Gima is also a very good player.

Grimes, Maile, Bondick, are all vey good. Maile has the biggest upside maybe in the region.

Arrez Henderson will be the best ALL AROUND athlete and player next year hands down.

Nic Simpson from Highlands will be a very close second, but IMO he just doesn't have the big game experience like Arrez and doesn't help out his team as much as Arrez does. Arrez is more complete and brings not only his offense but also his defensive presence to the team. If Simpson would play and be as intense as the other Highlands players do on defense, he could be right up there with Arrez. Until he does though, he'll be Henderson's shadow.

Other top players to watch:

McFarland- Boone

Maile- CCH (probably the most upside but not on the same level as Henderson or Simpson)

Bondick- CCH

Nelson- Holmes

Sorrell- Holy Cross

A lot of other good players in the 9th but IMO those are the top 5-7 in any order.

Henderson and Simpson are the cream of the crop though.

It will be intresting to see how Henderson reacts this year without Rice and Hill to help and take some of the pressure off him. On a side note I love Mcfarlands game I think he will be a great player for the next two years.

Holmes returns a lot of talent next year. Not on the same level as DJ, Rice, and Hill, but Nelson, Clark, and Avery will be nice compliments to his game.

I think next year, with the exception of a few players, will be pretty even across the board. There are many players that do many different things for their respective teams. I like Henderson as the player every team must stop. I also like Sorrell from HC. I saw him as a soph, and he impressed me then. McFarland from Boone is in the mix. If Craddock from Lloyd could develop a jumper when he's tired, I think he could be a top 10 player. Like I said, I think there are 5 players or so that are in the top 5, but after that, it's a toss up with about 10-15 names. Should be an exciting year next year.

I agree they will still have a good team next year and will compete to go back to state but I think teams are going to make Henderson there main focus when they play. Which was something they just could not do this past year.
