Cardinals ban booze in the clubhouse

Featured Replies

Obviously. However, STL is the current one in the news.

Do you agree tht this is a hollow gesture since they allow fans to drink as much as they want for 3 hours?

But don't they quit serving beer in the 7th inning for the same reason?

Is alcohol allowed at your job? I know it isn't where I work.

Why should baseball teams be any different?

Is alcohol allowed at your job?

Yes....

But don't they quit serving beer in the 7th inning for the same reason?

I don't follow. STL is still going to sell as much beer as they can in pre-game and through the 7th. All of those folks are hitting the road as soon as the game is over. So what , again, does the lockerrom ban accomplish?

:irked:

I had to...

It is a hollow gesture but all major professional sports teams sells alcohol to teams. I know that St. Louis is in the current news but they should not be singled out.

I do agree the players should not have alcohol in the locker room.

You have just made my point. The banning of alcohol in the clubhouse is PR only. If STL is truly concerned about the safety of the drivers of STL, they would not sell alcohol at the games.

Ticket prices would double and that would be the end of MLB.

I just dont see how anyone could get drunk at a ball game. 6-8 dollars a beer ? Most fans must have some pretty thick wallets...

Surely that's a joke, right?

A lockerroom ban probably saves 10-20 drunk drivers, in reality.

Regardless, the problem is not if or how much alcohol is being served. Instead, it's the fact that it took the death of a young man for many of us to recognize that a problem exists...

Once again, my "hollow gesture" contention gathers more evidence.
