May 1, 200719 yr Rules: 1) The whole album is what is being considered. Don't just include one for one great song. 2) On the flip side, the whole album is what is being considered. If it has one hit song but the rest of the world has missed the solid gold that was the rest of it, it's fair game. 3) Don't rag on someone's choice unless you're willing to sit through at least 5 straight tracks of the album to make the choice. 4) It doesn't have to be a message sent straight from the Rock Gods. It doesn't have to be the greatest album of all time for it to be underrated or underappreciated. 5) Make sure to plead your case for your choices.
May 1, 200719 yr Author I'll get it started: Fush Yu Mang by Smash Mouth, 1997 Their first full length album, and it had their breakout hit Walkin' on the Sun. This album is, in my opinion, way underrated for being very good all the way through. "Flo" – 2:13 "Beer Goggles" – 2:01 "Walkin' on the Sun" – 3:27 "Let's Rock" – 2:50 "Heave-Ho" – 3:47 "The Fonz" – 3:39 "Pet Names" – 2:20 "Padrino" – 3:45 "Nervous in the Alley" – 2:32 "Disconnect the Dots" – 2:49 "Push" – 2:50 "Why Can't We Be Friends" – 4:50 This album is must have in my opinion. It's also a great example of a band that should know their limitations... if this were the only album they'd ever released, Smash Mouth would have a cult following. The writing is excellent (Flo is genuinely surprising) the execution is a very nice punk/ska sound, especially for late 90's. Fun songs, angry songs, funny songs, sad songs, there's variety and depth here. Closes with the War cover.
May 1, 200719 yr Harlem World, Mase 1997 I can't post the track titles due to valuing my membership, but I love it. I know it went multi-platinum, but no one ever talks about it anymore. He kind of fell off the map afterwards....Nothing he's done since can even come close to Harlem World.

May 1, 200719 yr Author Here's a double shot of great side project albums (which defined my childhood listening.) The Travelling Wilburys Vol 1, a genuine Rock and Roll All-Star line up of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, George Harrison and Roy Orbison. This is a very critically aclaimed album (written and laid down in 10 days at Dylan's place, Rolling Stone named it as #70 for best Albums of the 80's) but in my opinion it's top 50 All Time. So Good. "Handle with Care" – 3:20 "Dirty World" – 3:30 "Rattled" – 3:00 "Last Night" – 3:48 "Not Alone Any More" – 3:24 "Congratulations" – 3:30 "Heading for Light" – 3:37 "Margarita" – 3:15 "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" – 5:30 "End of the Line" – 3:30 The two I have bolded are two of my personal Motorcycle Singing Songs (anyone who's ever done a couple of thousand miles on a bike knows what I'm talking about.) And No. 2? The Notting Hillbillies, Missing...Presumed Having a Good Time This is Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits bluegrass/traditional side project "Railroad Worksong" – 5:29 (Traditional) "Bewildered" – 2:37 (Whitcup/Powell) "Your Own Sweet Way" – 4:32 (Knopfler, Mark) "Run Me Down" – 2:25 (Traditional) "One Way Gal" – 3:10 (Traditional) "Blues stay Away from Me" – 3:50 (Delmore, Alton/Delmore, R./Raney, Wayne/Glover, Henry) "Will You Miss Me" – 3:52 (Phillips, Steve) "Please Baby" – 3:50 (Traditional) "Weapon of Prayer" – 3:10 (Louvin, I./Louvin, C.) "That's Where I Belong" – 2:51 (Croker, Brendan) "Feel Like Going Home" – 4:52 (Rich, Charlie) Best version of Railroad Worksong of all time, and I thought for about 20 years that Bewildered was an original it's so good. Will You miss Me has to be singled out, too.

He can back but never made it again.

May 1, 200719 yr Self titled debut from The Used... June 25, 2002 1. Maybe Memories 2. The Taste Of Ink 3. Bulimic 4. Say Days Ago 5. Poetic Tragedy 6. Buried Myself Alive 7. A Box Full Of Sharp Objects 8. Blue And Yellow 9. Greener With The Scenery 10. Noise And Kisses 11. On My Own 12. Pieces Mended It's very rare that I can listen to a CD all the way through and not skip through certain tracks... It's happened on maybe 5 CDs that I've ever listened to.. Tops. This is one of those CDs... Now I know the style of music is not going to appeal to everyone... In fact, a great deal of the time I don't listen to music that screams... Other than The Used, From Autumn to Ashes is the only other band of that type that I can stand... This CD is a great reason why... You've got your classic "good riddance to the ex girlfriend" type in Bulimic, your hard rockers in Box Full of Sharp Objects and Maybe Memories, your more mellow ballad type in Blue and Yellow and On My Own, and your radio type staples in Taste of Ink and Buried Myself Alive... And then 5 other songs that are a great blend of all of the above.. I bought this album the day it came out and I've listened to it in its entirety no less than 100 times since then... And I'm nowhere near getting tired of it. "Blue and Yellow" is possibly my favorite song of any genre ever (Not the best, just my favorite)... Good stuff.. Good stuff.
May 1, 200719 yr Jack White's side project The Raconteurs Broken Boy Soldier Outkast album #2 ATLiens 213 (Snoop/Warren G/Nate Dogg) Tha Hard Way My three favorites off the top of my head...
