April 30, 200719 yr I guess so, but I never remembered him as being an option qb. I dont even remember it being part of the offense really when he played. He wasn't.
April 30, 200719 yr I just got a call about this. Word is Jeff got a call from the Bengals at the end of the draft and is set to sign as an undrafted free agent tonight at PBS. Could he become the #3 for the Bengals? I think so. Good luck to Jeff!! GO BREDS!! WHO DEY!! :thumb:  :dancingpa Congratulations..!!! With his work ethic he may push the other QB's for a spot on the roster. I wish him well.
April 30, 200719 yr I th9ink I saw 6'5 235? It's not the 235. It's the fact that he is about 6% bodyfat at 235. Very imposing figure.
April 30, 200719 yr Author Hey Mex I guess he can't be our QB at the turkey bowl this year  Oh well. I think he has a shot, the Bengals must think he has a chance or why waste their time. Rowe or Smith? I'll take the Thoroughbred any day of the week. He will be right at home at training camp since it is at georgetown. I am already working on a trip down there with his brother in law we're going to get Smith jerseys made!!

While i'm not comparing the two, he needs to completely blow them away to have any chance. I think practice squad is a slim possibility.

I find it very fitting that you now have a little girl to worry about. On the Smith front, I wouldn't have wanted to shake Mr. Smith's hand after the Bengals contacted Jeff. Many a mangled digit at the Smith house yesterday.

I think practice squad is a slim possibility. Eddie had no chance because he went into a situation where the Chief's had 3 QB's and brought in 2 or three more. This situation seems a little different, It will be Rowe and Smith fighting for the third spot. Two totally different situations, I think this one is a little more appealing than that of Eddie's. Even if it is just as far as numbers go. The Bengals are not going to get rid of Johnson because he is the only QB that knows the playbook besides Carson and you have to have a backup, at the same time you have to have a third guy to hold the clipboard! Hopefully Smith can be that 3rd guy. Best of Luck!

April 30, 200719 yr And Eddie had no chance b/c he was no where near as talented as Jeff. At the NFL level he might not have been as talented but was every bit as talented at the NAIA level. Big difference is Smith is a lot taller, bigger, faster, and has the body needed to go along with the arm in the NFL. Maybe practice squad for a year or so since the 5th round pick will be given every chance to be the #3. I'm not sure how they do NFL Europe but maybe thats a possibility at some point.
