Is this the reason Cincy didnt take a linebacker?

I think the less we hear about Odell from Marvin, the better it looks that he will be back.

Guess you enjoy watching our D getting ran all over. Or are you just used to it? If he is the answer we are in a A LOT of trouble.

Jeanty is going to be a very solid linebacker for us for years to come. They say he made the transition to that outside linebacker spot alot easier than Pollack was ever able to and Jeanty did it in one year. Jeanty gives us some size also at that linebacker spot. Also remember last year was his first year playing in the NFL and for his first year he held his own, and most likely he would have improved to be even better this year...

Couldn't agree more....:thumb:

The one pick that really left me scratching my head was the QB....I don't understand that one at all.

Same here. Even though I'm concerned I can live with the Hall pick. I think Irons was a need and became the best pick by the time they got on the clock. Two hard hitting S that need to improve in coverage to groom behind Dexter while playing special teams. A nice value G late. A Samoan DT. The more I look at it the more I'm leaning toward a B- grade...

I get the QB pick, we either needed to sign a FA backup or draft a guy, why not? There was no one big time standing out there anyway, fills a need.

If it was any other coach than Marvin I'd be scared, but he likes to keep secrets.....:sssh: :sssh: :sssh:

They needed a backup, yes, but IMO with a QB with a major knee injury under his belt, you want a backup that can keep you in games if an injury occurs....I doubt Rowe is that kinda guy.

He ran a gimmick O and I don't see how he translates to a long term #2. I understand QB, but not the pick...

If they were going QB I would've liked little bro or Zabranski...

Drafting a QB who is going to be third string... is more economical then signing a free agent. I think that's half why they did it. Other have is I think they hope he turns out to be the kinda guy who can back up Carson for years to come.. a Matt Cassel or Jim Sorgi..

I got ya, I have no idea about the guy so I won't pretend to, I just assumed they saw something they liked in him.

I think with Odel healthy and drug free, this group of LB's are average at best and without him, not a good group at all...

One name not mentioned in this discussion on LB's but seems to be a key player for Lewis is Brooks.

Marvin Lewis contends that if Ahmad Brooks had played another college season at Virginia, the linebacker would have been a first-round pick this past weekend.

Instead, the Bengals selected Brooks in the third round of the supplemental draft in July, thus forfeiting their third-round pick Saturday.

And after flashing big-play potential and a dominating physical presence at middle linebacker in 11 games last season, Brooks is expected to solidify a weak position at the heart of Lewis' defense.

"We felt like we had great value for that pick," Lewis said of Brooks. "We would have taken Ahmad somewhere after our first pick, let alone with our third pick.

"It played out this year with us getting two first-round names."
