If UK gets Patterson and Lucas....

Featured Replies

I think that Duke's class is higher than 6 now. Vital said he would put Dukes class #1 if they get PP.

That's no surprise. He would say Carolina or Duke is #1 regardless of who they get.

Rondo, Morris, Crawford, and company were highly rated coming in as well...Ratings are meaningless once they hit campus.

And apparently rightfully so....Rondo was a 1st round NBA pick and Morris also made the NBA....Verdicts still out on Crawford, but, he reminds me alot of Bogans and look what a difference it was from his Jr to Sr year... I'd love to have Morris coming back next year and bet most UK fans would too...

Not a good comparison, Bogans was doing really good things for the program right when he was a freshman, and well we are still waiting for Crawford to do that for even one year...

I think Crawfords production has been solid, if not spectacular...He did average about 16 pts a game this year and no, it wasn't because he shot the ball 15-20 times a game because he didn't. You may not like him, but, he's a very good college player. Sure he had some ups and downs, but, Bogans did, as well and from what i recall, he was nowhere near an NBA caliber player till his last year...

Well you recall wrong, because he seriously thought about leaving after his sophomore year because he had a very good year..Also I dont believe Crawford average 16 a game this year I think it was more along the lines of 13 to 14 points a game without looking it up...Also Crawford is not a very good college basketball player. He has been a very average college basketball player so far. Good college basketball players are players that can show up when they have to play decent competition, but well Crawford ends up earning the nickname no show Joe because he disappears against and good competition and just forces shots and cant make anything. While also not doing anything to help his teammates out of offense because he dont pass the ball to open teammates usually...Crawford has all the potential in the world to actually be one of the top players in the country however after 3 years now he has not played the way he can play, and has just been a very average college basketball player...And back to your comparison thing, Bogan was starting his freshman year, and was given the ball at the end of game situations to make something happen. While Crawford was sittin on the bench. Bogans was starting his sophomore year and was thinking about making the jump to pro while Crawford his sophomore year didn't do that great. The comparison Bogans is just not a good comparison...

I think you have to wait till after next year to make the comparison. Bogans had a horrible junior year and I thought he played very selfish his sophomore year, trying to steal the spotlight away from the real star Prince.

He didn't have to try to steal the spotlight from Prince because Bogans was already one of the stars on the team...There is just no comparison between the two at all! Bogans his first two years was head and shoulders above the player Crawford was his first two years. And well last year was probably Crawfords best year so far (which I might add was still not that great considering he did NOTHING against good teams) and well even though Bogans struggled his junior year finding his shot, he still had as good as year as Crawford did in his best year as a Cat so far. Also you always got 100 percent from Bogans, which we have yet to see from Crawford everygame. There is no comparison here guys...

:thumb: Coming from the guy who compared Tubby Smith to Adolph Rupp...

This is a big IF but IF they get them this would be a top 10 class.

I say that we do not offer a scholarship to Lucas. Hear me out. Brandon Jennings, one of Legion's high school team mates and the 9th ranked player on the '08 class, is now interested in UK because of Legion coming here. I say we try as hard as we can to get Patterson, then next year have 3 scholarships to give out. One goes to Darius Miller, one goes to Jennings, well, offer it, and then go after a 4 or 5 star center. We have enough guards this year, we do not need Lucas. We have Crawford, Bradley, Jasper, Meeks, Legion, and Porter, overloaded with guards. We try REALLY hard to get Patterson, then we sould have the 6 guards (still too many), Patterson, Stewart, and Carter. Still guard heavy, so that is why I say to not go after Lucas and have 3 scholarships to give ut next year, for Miller, Jennings and a good quality center.

If UK gets those guys, I know it doesnt really mean anything, but where would this class be ranked this year?

I think they would be around top 5 or 6 easily.

What do you guys think?

Maybe top 5...but there are some huge classes out there already.

 Coming from the guy who usually makes the most idiotic comments on here...

But nice try on the Tubby and Rupp thing, but of coarse you left out the part I was comparing...When I said that I was talking about how Rupp did have the record for longest drought from the final four before Tubby broke it. And well that was the biggest reason people use to say for wanting Tubby gone and saying he was a terrible coach just because he broke the record here for longest drought of final fours. When really Rupp had the record for the longest drought before Smith but that didn't make him a terrible coach. So that is why I said it because people were saying Tubby was a terrible coach and should be at a mid major school because of that...So once again another stupid comment from you that just makes no sense because well it means nothing to what we were discussing, and then you couldn't even use your statement right because that is not how I said it....:sssh:

yes, Bogans contemplted going pro early, but, was advised by others to stay because he was nowhere near ready...I'll give you Bogans in his 1st 2 years, but, Crawfords stats were very similar to Bogans there Jr years and imo, Bogans improved tremendously his last year. He was known for forcing shots and once he started letting the game come to him, he was much better. My comparison is more there style of play than anything because both could drain the outside shot but are better taking it strong to the basket because of there strong bodies...I could see him thriving in a new system and I hope he does...

See thats the thing! Yeah their juniors year were about the same, however Bogans junior year was his worst year here and yet his numbers were still about the same as Crawfords in Crawfords first actual good year here. So you even say that their junior years are about the same, and you even say Bogans struggled his junior year which is true. So just look at that Bogan in a bad year still did as good as Crawford in Crawfords best year here so far (which still was not that good and was just an average player still.) Also yes both better suited drving the ball, and Bogans still did that more than Crawford and finished better around the rim and made better decisions that Crawford usually does... The main thing about Bogans junior year was he forgot how to make a shot, and well his senior season he got the touch back! Now I hope your right and Crawford does improve for his senior year and can do as good as his potential or even just get close to it. However just the comparison to Bogans is not there...
