Vince Young grabs Madden Cover!!!!!!.......jinx????

Featured Replies

Keep in mind that the last player not affected by the curse was also a Titan, Eddie George in 2000. He had career highs in yards and TDs the year he was on the Madden cover.

I guess Vince has THAT going for him...

Interesting to note that 2000 was also George's high-water mark as far as single-season numbers go. He never cracked 3.5 ypc after that.

Why did he get it??

Probably because everyone else was scared to.

Why did he get it??

Cause he's the new "phenom".

Also keep in mind that the curse really never took off and claimed that many cassualities untill after that season. From then on it was C-Pep, Faulk, Vick, Mc-Nabb, Lewis, Alexander, etc..........So did he in fact quite possibly start the curse?????? Where did Eddie George end up not even two to three seasons after that????

Just something to think about.

The way I see it the Madden curse gets another shot at the Titans.

Sorry Vince, you were great at Texas though... Should of stayed for your senior season.

We can still watch Reggie though.

I dont think it will be much longer until Reggie gets on the cover either...

Actually it was Garrison Hearst would started this curse. He was the first player to be featured on the cover (Madden '99) alongside Madden, the next season on the first play against the falcons, Hearst suffered a bad ankle break and would not play until 2001.

Then it was Barry Sanders/Dorsey Levens. Barry Sanders shared the cover with the then-customary picture of John Madden on Madden NFL 2000. However, a week before training camp began in 1999, Sanders abruptly retired - ending his career and leaving the Detroit Lions without their star running back of the previous 10 years. Sanders' part in the curse is debated because he is not pictured alone on the box, and he had willingly retired. Dorsey Levens was featured on the 2000 cover that was released. After rushing for 1,034 yards in 1999, he gained only 224 yards from scrimmage in 2000. Ultimately, Levens was cut by the Green Bay Packers in 2001, and retired, as a Packer, in 2004, after playing as a journeyman who had 1-season stints with both the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants.

Then came Eddie.

Welcome to ACL rehab, Vince!

Those must have been very rare, I don't remember ever seeing one, and you can't even find the image on the net.

Anyone think that EA might have picked VY with the curse in mind?

You're not suggesting EA wants to sabatoge him, are you????

More that the Madden curse is free publicity that you can't buy (it's part of mainstream news at this point) and they have an interest in keeping it going... so I'm a little skeptical that they chose a mobile QB with that totally out of their minds.

Gotcha! :thumb:

Kind of falling under the mantra of "any publicity is good publicity."
