Allen is obviously, 100 percent, without question, the only possible answer for this thread. Scouts say she could start for OU now.

 

It's unfortunate that another good NKY pitcher, Amanda Jump of Holmes, is overshadowed by Allen (unfortunate for Jump, that is). Latest stats have Jump at 5-1 with a 0.70 ERA, and 72 K's in 40 innings.

I saw a young pitcher from Montgomery County this past weekend at a tournament in Clark County. She is a freshman Her name is Paige Compton she is a great work in progress. She faced Estill Co who was 10-0 at the time and she struck out 13 of their batters. She will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.They had a radar gun at the tournament and she was the fastest one there at 63 mph. Not bad for a freshman. The wallace girl from Clark was pitching around 55 and the girl from Allen CO was at 57 mph.

If she is already at 63 MPH as a freshman, she will get offers galore. That is college speed as a frosh. Wow! Hard to believe, but WOW! :scared: When she is on the mound, Montgomery should never lose.

She has a little bit of a control problem.But she still struck out I think around 10 batters tonight. She faced Rowan CO tonight and they had been killing the ball. One of their parents said they had beat a team 15 -0 two nights ago. She shut them down tonight with 1 or 2 hits(which came on her change up). She had walked two batters and one of them scored on a sacrifice fly or they would not have had any runs. She was clocked tonight at 61 and her avg speed was around 58. Montgomery Co has two more pitchers one is a Sr. and the other is a Jr. So she usually comes in around the 5th inning to close the games.

IMO, throwing that hard with a slight control problem is no problem .If she is not walking alot this only keeps the other team on edge .The fear of the batter being hit works for her .I have seen this happen for 6 years ,watching 2 young ladies who throw very hard .The last 2 - 3 years they have had better control ,but the early days were interesting .Even had 1 coach threaten to pull his team off the field if I did not change pitchers .Told him go ahead it's a loss for you .

The most dominant high school pitcher in Kentucky isn't Lexington Catholic left-hander Nick Maronde or Paul Dunbar fireballer Thomas Royse or Danville ace Rich Witten. The most dominant pitcher doesn't even play baseball, and it's a she, not a he. It's Kirsten Allen of defending state fast-pitch softball champion Ryle.

 

Earlier this week Allen, a junior right-hander, threw the eighth perfect game of her career (tying the state record set by North Laurel's Becky Abner a few years ago). Last week Allen struck out 20 batters in a win over Scott County. This season she is 15-1 with 12 shutouts and a 0.08 ERA. Her career numbers are incredible: 85 victories, including 63 shutouts and 23 no-hitters, and 1,127 Ks.

 

"I've been with her all along, and I'm still awed when I look at her stats," Ryle Coach Bill Matteoli said.

 

Matteoli credits Allen's pinpoint control and variety of pitches for her success. "She can hit any spot she wants," he said, noting Allen has 191 Ks and four walks in 95 innings this spring.

 

Matteoli said Allen's repertoire includes a 66-mph fastball, and seven or eight other pitches, including "a rise ball that is really difficult to hit .... a peel drop that looks like it falls off a table ... and a screwball that really messes with you on inside pitches."

 

Allen has committed to Oklahoma, which is currently rated No. 2 in the nation.

Maybe with her in high school .I know the guy who got her started in rec when they first went ot fast-pitch in No.Ky. She has been this since the beginning .She had amazing control and threw somewhat hard from the start .Her mother took her training to new heights at home which you have to do .You can't get that good at a rec practice once or twice a week .

BTW , her mother is in the Hall Of Fame at Kansas State U. --for softball .

She rarely hits a batter. Her balls just barely miss, I think it is her screw ball that tails down and out and it will just miss outside. The umpires sometimes will call it a strike and other times it will be a ball. I think it depends on the catchers position when it is thrown. She loves to keep the ball low and sometimes blue just won't call them low. Most of her pitches miss a little outside.

If she has already tied Becky Abner's mark at this point in the season, she will more than likely break it this season. That's all I need to know about this pitcher. WOW!!! :scared:
