Savannah is a beautiful place. On a side note, school is horrible and I wish I didnt have to go....EVER AGAIN.
April 11, 200719 yr Oh... How utterly... Exciting? I've pretty well decided to major in journalism... And I think I decided today that I'm going to leave the bluegrass after I get my associates and head down to Georgia to finish my education. How did you come about that decision? (I'll read it tomorrow, I have to do some work.)
April 11, 200719 yr My reasoning for both is fairly simple. After graduation, I had full scholarships to Pikeville College and Union College on the table. Things were looking extremely bright for me as it looked that I had a great opportunity to further my education elsewhere. Alas, life isn't all sunshine and rainbows and it didn't turn out the way I wanted. Around that time, my family thought strongly about leaving the friendly confines of Pikeville and moving a little farther west to Carrollton (sp?) because of a job offer in the area. I was pretty overwhelmed by the thoughts of graduation and moving away and stuff at the the time and it was all hitting hard all at once. It put me in a situation of panic where I didn't know whether I was staying or going and I didn't wanna leave my girlfriend behind, and I became more than a little depressed. All this confusion frustrated me so much because I wasn't able to enjoy my summer... I was always wondering what was going on... I wasn't necessarily feeling that I still needed the protective wings of my mother, but I didn't want to stay while she left because I figured maybe I would need her... And then I wasn't in a situation to leave because I had my girlfriend here who I am extremely in love with... And a long distance relationship wasn't something that I was willing to try... I went into panic mode and ended up sitting out the first half of the semester, losing both scholarships in the process. My family ended up staying in this area thankfully. I felt happy with my decision to not go to college at first, but then I started hating it more and more. I enrolled in bi-term classes in October and finished out the semester earning 12 credits. I had every intention of going back for the spring semester, but some problems came up with my financial aid and I was going to have to dish out the money to get my books and stuff, which at that time I simply could not afford. I ended up dropping all those classes like the Friday before classes were to pick back up. I WILL re-enroll at Big Sandy in the fall, and I will finish up getting my associates there. The decision to major in journalism is simply because I absolutely love to write. I feel that I convey my feelings a lot better when typing it out than I do in a face to face confrontation. Face to face, I say that I want to say... But when I have time to sit down and think about it, I really get my message across. I'm comfortable with the idea of doing interviews and everything... It definitely doesn't bother me. I fall in with with commas and ellipses from time to time, but it's the only real snag that has ever been pointed out in my writing Both are certainly curable. So yes, after I finish up at Big Sandy, I plan to commute down to Georgia. I want to leave this area because it serves as too much of a reminder to me how I messed up what I had. Hangwoman will be going with me this time, so the move won't bother me as much. Housing won't be a problem as I would live in the doublewide that my grandparents own on Lake Hartwell, and they would live probably 100 yards away in a house that should be finished about that time. So why journalism? Because I love writing. Why leaving? Too many reminders of mistakes. Why Georgia? Already have family and housing down there... And I truly believe the opportunities are better. I hope that's as simple as my initial sentence made it seem.
