Crossover10 Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 I was wondering if any one had any info. on some AAU tournaments already played. I know Team Kentucky beat the Derek Smith East team in the championship game by around 20 in Florence. This was due to GREAT three point shooting and defense.
sidelinecoach Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Did the Ky Shining Stars team play this weekend? Team Ky played extremely well in Florence winning the BCI Super Showcase I think it was called. They beat D-S East by around 20 after leading by as much as 32! I believe I was told they hit 17 3's led by Tyler Maynard-Elliot Co.with 7, Jordan Adams-Scott Co & Noah Keeton-Lincoln Co each with 3 or 4. Team Ky was playing without 6'8 Jordan Stephens, 6'7" Connor Krail so this looks to be a good team in the making. D-S East did not have Tyler Portwood. Both teams should be fun to watch this spring & summer
Crossover10 Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 yes. I think Noah hit 5 three and Adams hit 4( on a bum ankle he hurt the game before were he could not even run) The three of them only missed 4 threes combined with Maynard 7-9, Noah 5-7 and Adams 4-4
SportsGuy41017 Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 What other high school age teams played this weekend? Any results?

SportsGuy41017 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Did the Ky Shining Stars team play this weekend? Some teams may not have played because of Easter weekend.

Flannery, Earls, Popp, Coleman, Avery Coleman had 17 in one game and was 5-7 from 3's. Earls played well, scoring about 8-12 points a game. He hurt his wrist a few games into the tournament diving after a loose ball. Awaiting x-ray results. Popp was also hurt early on, receiving a minor concussion from a blow to the eye. The play was very physical--6 fouls allowed per player per game, and no bonus until 10 team fouls.

SportsGuy41017 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 What's the OBC stand for? I THINK it's Ohio Basketball Club. I think that is what one of my players parents told me.

AAU in general is extremely physical but sounds to me like the boys were experiencing some football. I hear the Avery boy is a nice talent and will help Conner in the future.

Yes, it gives bigger, stronger bodies the advantage. Smaller guards can be fouled and bumped off the ball much more easily. Avery seems to be a good basketball player and a good kid.
