July 31, 200719 yr With one game left in July I would say the METS have their work cut out for them. The METS are 13-13 so far in July and 11-7 since the All Star break, and somehow have been able to hold on to close to the best record in the NL. They have had 12 guys on the DL this season and been able to maintain the lead they have had for the most of the season. Now that they have finally solidfied to some degree the 2nd base position, the METS need some good bullpen especially middle relief help. The next 3 series against the brews, cubs and braves will tell alot about this team IMO. I also believe the phils will play a major role in a possible stretch run.
July 31, 200719 yr The Mets have been struggling and with Beltran likely going on the DL things aren't looking easier...however they picked up Castillo so the middle is again solid, and even a little more of offensively....The Mets need to maintain until all their arms are back...and then they SHOULD be fine.

The loss by the braves and win by both the METS and phils push the braves to 3rd..METS still best record in the National League and 3rd best in the majors for now anyway. Like to see Maine have a good outing to make up for the last outing against the cubs....GO METS..BTW I agree with your assesement of Reyes on another thread!!!
August 9, 200719 yr Well the METS had a nice comback, but fall short today. On the bright side the METS only lose one game in the standings with the marlins up next. GO METS
