I don't think Billy G was our 6th choice. I hope John does well at Arkansas, I have always liked him and if he wins the SEC in 3-4 years he's a whole lot better coach than I thought he was. I just didn't think he was ready for the UK job yet. Gillispie has one less year of head coaching experience than Tubby did when he came here. Both Tubby and Billy G. had two years as the head man at large Universities and this will be John P's first. As I said earlier I like him and hope he does well.

Wouldn't have happened if Louisville had played them later in the season once they were clicking!

Ya know what now I understand you're reasoning for Pelphrey or Ford, it's because, as you stated, you're NOT a UK fan!

 

 

Forgive me for being objective and able to look beyond my own shades of blue and white and offer an opinion on a situation not involving Duke. Sorry I can talk about more than the school I root for.

Either way it goes, Pelphrey of Ford will be here as Billy G.'s successor whenever that happens. I just think that if it happens in the next 5 years, which is possible, then you guys will have wasted 5 years that Ford or Pelphrey could have gotten a tremendous amount of experience with. I have felt sorry for you guys the last 3 years because you have gone down each year. We'll see what Billy G. can do, but it appears, at this moment, that the only guys who can truly bring back the passion you guys so desperately need would be named John or Travis. We'll see what happens.

 

Good luck vs. Arkansas next year and beyond. I hope Billy G. does better conditioning than Tubby did and that he was honest about a faster pace because we all know that John played against the 40 minutes of he!! teams in Arkansas' heyday. I'm sure he can't wait to bring that style of play back to Arkansas and I know that the fans of Arkansas won't be disappointed.

Arkansas is SEC basketball(best bball conference after the ACC), when he wins the SEC in the next 3-4 years(the timetable I gave him at UK) will you guys actually be ready to accept one of your own? Some fans. Love your support. Maybe fans at Duke should model their fan support after you guys. We can run off Coach K and then hire some guy who has been a head coach in college basketball for 5 years instead of keeping it in the family(Johnny Dawkins, WoJo, Collins, etc.) and doing it the right way. Oh yeah, you guys are the perfect model.

 

And Coach K played his college ball where??? Wasn't it at Army for Bobby Knight? You mean a Non Duke grad is coaching Duke? HERESY!!! :scared:

 

Don't lump all UK fans into one big pile! There is a difference in what Coach G has accomplished and what Travis and John have done. I would LOVE to see them at the helm someday. But do you even know for a fact that they were contacting UK about wanting the job right now?
