Best Coach in the State?

Featured Replies

But a great coach can come in and BUILD a heck of a chicken salad sandwich in a couple or three years.

If he has chicken.

If no one comes through that is taller than 6'1", are they going to be successful on a consistent basis with frontlines of 6'0", 6'1", 6'1".

Your speaking of Danny Trame. Not really well liked in Latonia. Kinda had a few tough season there and resigned two years ago.

Eric Goetz is there now and he'll be a good one. He does a great job but still has to prove something.

Thanks, Those teams at Covington-HC always play hard, I've always respected them for that.

Great point.

Rojas; There you go twisting the truth again....don't think Forest ever said his program was better than Scott's....I think what was said was that Oldham had won 3 straight regional titles and that it was tough to claim Scott was the most outstanding program in the 8th only to have to move to the 11th. Never heard the statement that Oldham was the best..just tough for any team to claim at that time that one was the most outstanding....Both were solid at that time...who was best ??

The thing is, when they took Scott Co. out of the 8th region, they were primed to dominate it again. They did in 2004, had a very young team in 2005, and were beat in the finals. I cant see them not winning that region these past 2 seasons. Even though Scott Co had a few down years, they definitly took the cream of the crop out of that region.

I don't think it was much of a contest who had the best overall program even then. In the previous 10 years Scott Co had won 6 regional championships, Oldham Co had won 3 and Anderson Co had won 1. In the same time period Scott Co had won 13 Sweet 16 games and Oldham Co had won only 2. I think Scott Co was much more respected around the state than Oldham County.

That's one way to put it ...
I agree - and I gave credit to other coaches in the program. Since there is only one high school in SC we are all in the same program. There are great feeder programs here and the youngest AAU league starts at 6U (that's 6months and under) :D A lot of that excitement stems from the success and dedication of Coach Hicks... It all goes together.

Does the Scott Co boosters club still put a red, white, and blue Scott Co Cardinal basketball in the crib of every baby born at the Georgetown Hospital? lol
