March 27, 200719 yr Don't laugh. Kobe's numbers vs. MJ put his career in perspective. The next MJ? He's playing his 11th season. He's won three NBA rings. He's averaging 53.6 points his past five games. Love him. Hate him. But don't ignore him. In fact, Kobe's been better than MJ. Putting Kobe in perspective By Jemele Hill Kobe Bryant is better than Michael Jordan. Not more successful. Hasn't had a bigger economic impact. Hasn't won more MVPs. Hasn't won more titles. But he's a better player. Kobe can do everything Michael did, and even a few things Michael couldn't do. Kobe is just as good a defender. His killer instinct is just as pronounced. He can shoot, finish and explode. And just like Jordan, the more he's peed off, the more unstoppable he is....
March 27, 200719 yr This has been mentioned in another thread...and is not even close. :thumb: There is only one MJ!!! Kobe is not better nor equal to his airness. MJ's stats are better in every category.
March 27, 200719 yr Author This has been mentioned in another thread...and is not even close. Really?
March 27, 200719 yr This has been mentioned in another thread...and is not even close. Thats just deny the facts. People only say that because they love MJ and hate Kobe. He is a better player than MJ.

March 27, 200719 yr I disagree there! However is he closer to MJ than most people want to give him credit for, absolutely!!! What is MJ better at on the court than Kobe. I will give MJ gettin other involved more but other than that I don't see anything.
March 27, 200719 yr Besides stats, championships, MVP's and all that...he did it without or prominant big man...unlike Kobe. Kobe would have never won those titles for the Lakers with Luc Longley instead of Shaq. Also, Kobe doesn't make people around him better like MJ use too, he turned Scottie Pippen into a Hall of Famer probably, and made others better as well, you'd probably never know how Toni Kukoc was. Kobe doesn't do that. But, he is the closest, but still several leaps behind.

March 27, 200719 yr Put Kobe is place of MJ on those teams I think you see the same results. I doubt it because as you said Kobe doesn't get as many people involved as MJ did, and that would made a difference. I think maybe he might have been able to pull off 4 championships them, but not the 6...

Ok and what does Kobe do better than MJ on the court. If we say they are equal in just about everything, then that part about being a better team player would make the difference between who is the overall better player. So that would mean tha Kobe is not a better player that MJ like you said...As I said before Kobe is alot closer to being as good as MJ than people want to give credit for. But right now MJ is still the better player...

I think maybe he might have been able to pull off 4 championships them, but not the 6... He didn't need to. Those players MJ had were PERFECT role players and did the job they were supposed to do.

March 27, 200719 yr Author MJ is the best overall player in NBA/ABA history. Kobe is the best offensive player in NBA/ABA history. & no Wilt or MJ was not a better offensive player than Kobe. Wilt=A more dominant player than Kobe but not better overall offensively.
