March 28, 200719 yr Author Kobe Bryant is the best player in the league right now hands down...love him or hate him how can you argue? the numbers dont lie I don't think people are denying/arguing that Kobe is/is not the best player in the league right now but rather the best ever offensively & so forth.
March 28, 200719 yr Jordan was and is the best to ever play the game. His ability to make nearly half of his shots for his career is incredible when you realize that the other team threw every kind of defense at him. And the game was more physical in the early part of his career too, you did not see the handcheck called the way it is now. Kobe does not have the team or individual awards to be called Jordan's equal or even more better than Jordan. How many MVP awards for Kobe? Zero. Jordan finished second two or three times that he should have probably won. And no comparison on defense, Jordan always on the all defensive team and won defensive player of the year before as well. Kobe is on an unreal run right now, but he is not Jordan's equal.
March 28, 200719 yr Kobe is the ONLY player that can be in this debate. Those of you that are trying to look at stats or championships to make your judgment do not know how to watch a player. To even for one second try to equate Kobe's cast to MJ's shows either a lack of knowledge or a distaste for Kobe. MJ never won a championship without Pippen and Kukoc. KB never won one without Shaq. Kobe is now stuck with Luke Walton and Odom as his best options while MJ had a Top 50 all-timer in Pippen and an early Dirk Nowitzski type player in Kukoc. They're very, very close. He did win without Kukoc. He won three of them. As for Kobe, who is to blame for his lack of cast??? I believe that it's Kobe. Mailman hated playing with him, Gary Payton hated playing with him. Jordan even got Rodman to keep it somewhat straight on the court. Where Jordan was the epitome of leader, Kobe is the epitome of prima dona. Now, I will give you that any SCORING differences between Jordan and Kobe are minimal, though I found Jordan more willing to post up than Kobe.

And that right there is the difference IMO. MJ only cared about winning, and would do that while also being the best player of all time. While Kobe would have rather TRY to win championships on his own, instead of making things work with him and Shaq and winning alot more titles. Kobe is a player that has only been about him. That is why I think if he was with the Bulls instead of Mike that they wouldn't have won all those titles, because he probably would have want to TRY to win a title without having a guy like Pippen with him. That also shows me that I dont think he would have passed the ball in the situations MJ did where Kerr and Paxton made game winning shots, Kobe most likely would have tried to do it himself... Kobe stats wise is getting very close to MJ, but as the better overall basketball player it is still MJ, and may always be IMO...
March 28, 200719 yr Author Michael Jordan could be playing barefoot, with terminal illness, blind-folded, eating a oscar-meyer hot dog, drinking a gatorade, plus Plus Kobe could pick one of his current Laker team-mates, and the odds in Las Vegas would still be: "Jordan +3." This isn't even a contest, Jordan is unstoppable one-on-one--ask any team that tried to guard him in the 80's or 90's. Jordan also was 9 time NBA All-defensive first team. Also NBA defensive player in 88' and second all-time in career steals. Jordan wins in shutout fashion, then signs a multi-million dollar shoe contract. Kobe's ego is incarcerated. Winner: Michael Jordan http://webpages.csus.edu/~sac51507/michaeljordanvskobebryant.htm
March 28, 200719 yr Author I find it funny and amusing everytime I hear the Kobe vs Jordan arguement. Jordan fans seem to think he won 6 titles by himself. You can tell those people never watched any Bulls game at all. I guess they forget Dennis Rodman won 7 straight rebounding titles. Horace Grant and Charles Oakley were both top 3 rebounders when they played for the Bulls as well. Jordan fans also forget Scottie Pippen was an All Star and 7 times was named to the NBA's 1st team all defense. Since Shaq left the Lakers name 1 player you can compare to Pippen or Rodman. Don't make yourself look dumb by saying Lamar Odom or Kwame Brown either. Odom has NEVER been an All Star or lead a team to anything. Shaq gets credit for the 3 rings he won with Kobe but anybody who watched the Lakers during those playoffs knows that Shaq was a liability in the 4th quarter because of his free throw shooting. He also got owned by the Spurs his entire Laker career. Without Kobe the Lakers would have never gotten to the NBA Finals. Shaq won Finals MVP's only because the east has 0 centers. That is still true today. The Lakers beat the Pacers with Rik Smits who retired after losing to the Lakers, the 76ers had Mutumbo who was old then, and New Jersey with Jason Collins. My grandmother could post up half of those guys and get 20 and 10. Then we have people calling Kobe a rapist even though he was never convicted of anything. Jordan cheated on his wife and was tricked out of $5millon but the media seemed to ignore that story. Notice how Jordan's wife has dumped him but Kobe's wife stays. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Jordan gambled on sports and was under investigation when he suddenly retired the 1st time. Jordan gets a free pass on that issue too. Jordan made the worst #1 pick in league history with Kwame Brown but again, that is rarely mentioned as a negative on Jordan. Its seems that the perception and reality of Jordan and Kobe are both off target. Kobe will NEVER be as good as Jordan but he is not some gun carrying, strip club lover either. I wonder if Shaq will ever get suspended for the elbows he throws. I doubt it, he seems to get the same pass Jordan got when he messed up. http://www.sportsline.com/mcc/messages/chrono/1726290/0/0/1726391#ID1726391 What say you?

March 28, 200719 yr He has 10 years to average that scoring out. In Jordan's ninth year he had just capped off a three peat, sans big name in the post, while averaging 32.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 5.5 apg, 2.83 spg, and 2.65 to/game...Jordan also almost doubled Kobe's blocked shots per game. Kobe would need to win this year to get ahead (even though all of his titles had Shaq), and is averaging 31.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 5.4 apg, 1.4 spg, and 3.43 to/game....don't forget his team's record...and they even have the same coach :sssh:
March 28, 200719 yr Are we judging his talent or his ability to be a good teammate? They seem to go hand in hand when comparing someone to His Airness.
