March 26, 200719 yr I would thank that before you take your name out of the hopper, your name would have to be in the hopper. Kentucky has had all the time in the world to get him if they actually wanted him but I checked on UK's website and they didn't have any janitorial positions available:jump:
March 26, 200719 yr He won't step on Donovan's toes. Okay, I could see that. But if Billy D was looking at not leaving Florida and indicated to him such, then I think he jumps in and takes Florida's side as Billy D building a legacy there. As he did for Tubby. But he didn't. Him staying quiet on it, makes me wonder (TOTALLY SPECULATION HERE) that Billy D is considering it.
March 26, 200719 yr But if Billy hasn't told Pitino what he's decided (and I don't think he has, since I don't think he has decided, not without both contract offers laid out in black and white in front of him, two agents, three lawyers and 4 pots of coffee) then how could he comment? Besides, lets take your case in the opposite direction. Billy isn't really considering Florida, he's just playing UK like a violin for the biggest raise out of Florida that he can get. In that case, he has to tell Pitino to play along, doesn't he? I don't think that's whats really happening, but my theory has just as much ground as yours.

Both views mean that something is working hard behind the scenes, though.:sssh:

March 26, 200719 yr Of that, there can be no doubt. And that was my original point. That something MUST be happening behind the scenes for Pitino to decide to NOT comment on it. He likes to hear him self so much, I bet he talks in his sleep.
March 26, 200719 yr He won't step on Donovan's toes. You stand to be corrected......Billy D. won't step on Rick's toes.
March 26, 200719 yr You stand to be corrected......Billy D. won't step on Rick's toes.? If you mean that he wouldn't take the UK job out of respect for Pitino, then I don't see that, although I've heard it said before. I'm sure their relationship could take coaching opposite ends of the rivalry.
March 26, 200719 yr I think Pitino would have liked to have been considered for the job, but surely he was not even on the list. As for his comments, UK fans know by now that most coaches are not truthful about their intentions. Louisville just went through that with football. To me, every coach that says he is not interested wants UK to be interested in them.

March 26, 200719 yr That is the BGP wish list, not the UK hiring committee. UK fans would not be happy if they had a year like Louisville did. At least we beat UL..

March 26, 200719 yr Granted UofL started out on the wrong foot, but I doubt that UK fans would mind finishing second in the Big East...:thumb: Beating ranked teams was nice. Put 'improving as the year went on' on that list, too.
March 26, 200719 yr The point of my response is that Rick was probably not considered but would have like to have been considered. I personnally would not have been satisfied if UK had the year UL did. After all they lost to their arch rival and were beat by UMass...thought they were going to the NIT and then pulled it together late in the season. UK would have been just as unhappy as we are today.!
