March 26, 200719 yr Heard a lot of grumblings at the Sweet 16 this weekend regarding Scott County's roster. Any answers to the following would be appreciated: 1. Is Mackey from Cincy? 2. How many kids transferred in and when? 3. How many kids were born and raised in Scott County?
March 26, 200719 yr I hope these "grumblings" weren't coming from Ballard fans. With Ballard's ability to "attract" basketball talent from all corners of Jefferson county I'd say that would be a clear cut "pot calling the kettle..." don't you think?
March 26, 200719 yr I was told that Mackey moved in from Cincinnati when he was in middle school. It's well-known that Hundley's family moved to Scott County nearly a decade ago ... if my math is right, he would have been in the third grade when Scott Hundley transferred from Dunbar. We've had state champions with much more questionable pedigrees ... as has Scott County.

After the last experience with them, I stayed away at the Sweet 16. Mainly eky and one wky schools. Heard a lot of statements about the Toyota plant and jobs. Sounds like unsubstantiated rumors though.

March 26, 200719 yr Author Regardless of the circumstances and one's feelings about it, it seems safe to say there is no way that Scott County wins their first state title without Toyota. Is that the one with Rick Jones (Corbin) and Hundley (Dunbar)?
March 26, 200719 yr Is that the one with Rick Jones (Corbin) and Hundley (Dunbar)?Jones was the star of Scott's 1998 state champions ... hit the 3-pointer at the buzzer that beat nationally-ranked Lexington Catholic in the semifinals. Jones' father got a job at the Toyota plant, prompting their move from Corbin ... that coming after Jones lit up Trigg County for 30 points in the Sweet 16 as a sophomore at Corbin. Hundley's family didn't move to Scott until the next season ... I don't think that Toyota had anything to do with that one.

March 27, 200719 yr Really?I've never heard any indication that it did ... do you know something different?
March 28, 200719 yr If you think Scott Co. doesn't take full advantage of the Toyota plant you need to take the blinders off. I'm not saying they are doing anything illegal, but they are using their resources very wisely.
March 28, 200719 yr No one is saying that Scott County hasn't benefitted from Toyota's presence, but I've never seen any indication that Toyota had something to do with the Hundleys relocating to the Georgetown area. Again, do you know something we don't?
April 2, 200719 yr If you think Scott Co. doesn't take full advantage of the Toyota plant you need to take the blinders off. I'm not saying they are doing anything illegal, but they are using their resources very wisely. Sounds like Ashland Blazer with Armco many moons ago! Nothing illegal, just the way it is. When that resource is gone, so is the school's chances to win titles. (e.g. Ashland again!)
April 3, 200719 yr It reminds me of the amazing resources Mexican restaraunts have brought to Bell County. Nothing illegal about it.
