March 24, 200719 yr :confused: There's no set position in a layup, therefore, there's really no pivot. A player is in motion and once that player picks up their dribble they have 2 steps (unless you're in the NBA), and those 2 steps are only if you remain in motion. A jump shot from a set position, your pivot foot comes off the ground along with your other foot. You don't see guys pick up their dribble, pivot around, then take one long jump off that pivot foot, land on the other, and go up in the air on that one. That is a walk. That is essentially what Green just did. Nees - there is ALWAYS a pivot foot unless the player catches the ball, moves neither foot, and then jumps. You do not get 2 steps. Once the pivot foot is established, you can co anything other than lift the pivot foot AND then return it to the ground without passing or shooting the ball.

March 24, 200719 yr I don't think it was a walk. He never put the pivot foot back down. You are allowed one step and that is all he took. I think too many officials call that a travel when it really isn't.

March 24, 200719 yr He spun...moved lifted his pivot foot, and then jumped with it...it was a walk...heck even the "we can't question the officiating" CBS'ers thought it was a walk..Like I said..I have Georgetown in the final game..but that is a crappy way to win a ball game...the only worse way would be to flagrantly foul someone, and have it not called...then win in OT, right NCF?

They both left the ground no doubt. A scenario for you to consider.... You have the ball in the post, pivot to the basket and leave the floor to shoot. Both feet are off the floor, but is that a walk??
