UKPAT - Would you really have been happy with the same record UL had in the last 2 years?

 

As a UK fan I would not, and as a UL fan I was not happy until the very end and hoping to look forward to next year.

 

Bottom line is UK needs new blood and a young up and coming coach!

 

I agree with that last part. We need someone naive enough to believe they won't be ridiculed like Tubby was. :lol:

 

I would settle for an NIT bid if it meant we went to the Final Four the year before.

:lol: I don't know one single UofL fan that wanted Pitino fired. Sosa didn't save them from the NIT either, the freshman class did and the future looks very bright for UofL. I would bet they are Top 20 the entire season next year.

I know plenty of people that were grumbling, that was clear. But I didn't know anyone that wanted him fired, either. I personally know some UK fans that were writing letters to the CJ, but that's a different story.:sssh:

I liked Tubby and I wish he had not left, but given the chance to get someone new we should go with the best fit for UK!

I don't bother getting on those message boards. There are very few true fans or people who understand the program. There is too much ignorance for me to handle on the main boards for any team.

I'm comparing the reasons to take them.

That's why he left Kentucky for the Celtics, and those are the reasons he'd come back to UK. The difference is, he's learned his lesson. I really believe that. And I genuinely think he's bitter over how UK fans treated him upon his return.

 

Taking over UK would be a lot different than taking over the Celtics. While the last couple of years haven't been up to UK's exacting standards they still won 22 games each year and made it to the 2nd round of the tourney. He's proven the ability over and over to come in and make a quick difference in the college game. Add to that the fact that UK has that new practice facility that he always wanted while he was there and his quotes calling the UK job the best job in the country and I think he'd at least listen. He may have been stung by getting booed when he returned but come on, he's been living in the state for the last few years listening to those same fans who were upset with him for leaving talk about how much they wish he were still there. He knows that all would be forgotten if he came back. Here's a scenario for you: Pitino comes back coaches 5-7 years before he's ready to retire giving Ford or Pelphrey (the 2 young coaches so many UK fans are talking about) time to become more established, turns the program around then hands it off to one of the aforementioned coaches who has becom 2013's version of Billy D. Everyone lives happily ever after.

People were mad, but like I said, I knew no one personally that wanted him fired.

 

And the small minority on the message boards that wanted him fired:

 

a) were proven pretty soundly wrong :ylsuper:

 

and

 

b) were much smaller than the mass exultationthat we saw at TCP yesterday.:sssh:

There is no chance that Pitino will come back to UK. I wouldn't mind seeing him do it, but he already has UK fans that will always hate him, then he would have UofL fans that would always hate him.

 

I could see an alliance forming, and Pitino being overtaken.

Actually, Saint..I agree, I thought the UL fans were very unfair but some of them had good points about the way their year was going.

That Pitino is brushing up on his resume this morning? I think he's been laying the ground work for something like this with his comments like "I should have never left Lexington" and " I love lexington, it was the biggest mistake of my life!" I think everyone in Lexington would definitely forget the word turncoat if he were to get on 64 and come east!!

 

First of all I dont don't him back, because it wont be as good as the first time around...Secondly no chance he would come back, he has a nice thing there at UL going. And also I dont think he would come back because of his loyalty to Tubby, and he wouldn't want to come to this place that treated Tubby so bad...

I don't think he'll come back, but I'd gladly accept him.
