March 23, 200719 yr I felt that this team had the components to make a run but too many of the key players faded in big games or at crucial moments. Most of those players were the ones brought in to feed the fans need for a top 5 recruiting class. I don't think the problem was the players UK had, but rather the players (Wright, Hansbrough, etc) that they didn't have.

March 23, 200719 yr I really really felt like things were going to get a lot better next year...so goes that. I agree. I've said several times before that Tubbys is at fault for not having a good Senior class and having virtually NO sophomore class. Next year, we would have Freshman, Sophs, a Jr. and 2 - 3 seniors. Improvement immediately.

A SEC title run, I think would have put them up to about a 6. Beat Alabama, which they should have, and taken either the UT/UF game which was doable and they could have been around that 5 and 6 seed and run. To me, that is where they should have finished at minimum. But this team was consistently unable to execute at the end. Sometimes no matter what you do as a coach, players just don't have the makeup to close out games.

I am talking about competiveness,running a clean show,talent level,recruiting,post season success,image, developing players.Has the coach maintained the level of those areas compared to when he came.
March 23, 200719 yr And around we go, back to the recruiting and assesment of talent. Remember it was just 3 years ago that the TBERS were thrilled that finally Tubby had brought in a top 5 class with the juniors. They hailed him as landing the recruits that UK should be bringing in.
