March 22, 200719 yr Now that Tubby is gone, and the main reason for considering Kentucky was for Tubby, what will happen with these recruits?
March 22, 200719 yr Nothing on Patterson or Lucas but here is a quote from A.J. Stewart that Rivals has... "I kind of figured something would happen because I had been hearing a lot of different things," Stewart said, "but I didn't think he'd be going to Minnesota." Stewart said he has yet to hear from anyone with Kentucky. That doesn't change his decision to stick with the SEC school. "As far as I know, I signed my letter of intent with Kentucky," Stewart said. "Coach Smith was one of the reasons why I picked them, but I want to go to Kentucky. I know Coach Smith has to do what is best for him and his family. I understand that."
March 22, 200719 yr It really depends. If UK can get a big name coach in a hurry then it might not affect them that much. The coach can come in talk to the boys and say that he wants to start off at UK with them and build a relationship from there. It could work with the right coach but it probably won't!
March 22, 200719 yr With McRoberts opening up a spot and Tubby gone I have to think PP lands at Duke...
March 22, 200719 yr I would not be shocked if UK is not on Pattersons top 3.. This might be good news for WVU???
March 22, 200719 yr Here is a quote from Lucas that I found on Rivals... "This definitely has an affect," said the 5-foot-10, 160-pound Lucas - who plays for Bellaire High School in Houston. "This is one of the reasons I waited. You never know what is going to happen in college basketball. "I'll just wait to see who Kentucky hires because Kentucky basketball is still Kentucky basketball. But it does hurt. I love Tubby Smith."
March 22, 200719 yr More than likely we lose out on these two for sure now. Nothing was a certainty even with Tubby staying as far as landing the two, but now it won't happen. However, I have said all along I wouldn't mind losing these two if it was due to a coaching change. Next year may be rocky, but Kentucky will get back on the right track. Another thing someone needs to look at is if we aquire a high profile coach, then some of their commitments may get out of their LOI's and follow them to Kentucky. Just food for thought.
March 22, 200719 yr Next year will be PAINFUL! If some of you think 12 losses was bad, wait for a possible 18-20! Even if BILLY D came next year he would be called DOUBLE-DIGIT DONOVAN!

It will not be that bad, but you can expect double digit losses for the next two seasons, probably 3. It just hurts that much to miss a recruiting class(if you need proof look at this season's seniors and the class previous was the number 1 rated class in the nation).

March 22, 200719 yr Dick Gabriel just reported that the duo just contacted McDonalds and told them to cancel their dual verbal announcement at the All American game next weekend...
