March 12, 200719 yr The comment that I heard on this was that Barnhart did say that "Tubby is our coach" but stopped with just that as far as giving him an entire vote of confidence. I did hear that he(Barnhart) also made the statement that they would get together after the season and discuss "the status of the program" which was taken to mean some changes in the staff/assistants. This move imo is overdue. Rigot and Hansen should have already been gone. We will have to wait and see what happens.
March 12, 200719 yr Heard over the weekend two names that were mentioned as assistant replacements. Only one I can remember now is Rod Barnes. Former Ole Miss coach that recruited Tubby's son Actually I had thought that Barnes would be brought in the year after he retired (last season). I know that Barnes and Tubby are best of friends.
March 12, 200719 yr Agree, I have told several that say he is gone that he is not. the only way Tubby is not back is if he takes a NBA job. Or he may retire, OTS has parents in failing health. I understand and I do know that he is a family oriented person and cares deeply about taking care of his family. Imo that has been one thing that has been weighing heavy on his mind in the last few years. JMO

It will get very interesting next year if this season's results are repeated. I think Barnhart is trying to be positive without painting himself in a corner

By not saying something, everybody, I think, would have thought we didn't care or we weren't paying attention to the things that were going on in our program." Later, it comes out that Barnhart was pushing hard for a new makeup on the staff and that Tubby was unwilling to do that. As the powerplay behind the scenes played out, Tubby decided he had had enough and resigned. I think this is about the only scenario in which Tubby is not back next year.

March 13, 200719 yr Tubby has acquired a new nickname at my workplace. The guy's here are now calling him: Good 'Ole 8-Seed Tubby Hes been an 8 seed twice, but hes been a #1 and #2seed 5 times. So that makes him "8 seed tubby"?
