Playing what amounts to two home games, they might as well have made the Cards the No. 3 seed. Playing at Rupp gives us a big boost, and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the old Memphis State rivalry rekindled in a week and a half.

March 13, 200719 yr I think Stanford's going to be tough. I think this was an "up" year for the Pac-10 as a conference, and that it was a very tough conference to play in. Stanford is a very good basketball team. They beat Virginia at home, beat UCLA, beat Oregon, beat Washington St. They are very tough inside defensively and down low offensively, which I think counters Louisville's strengths nicely. Lets face it, when the Cards start lofting 3's they stink, and if the Cardinal force them into that game it will be an early exit. That having been said, when Pitino has a week to prepare he is awesome, I think Louisville can take advantage of Stanford's guards, and the home field and time difference is going to be a definite edge. I think Louisville wins by 8 or 9. The early time, and hostile crowd will hurt Stanford...add to that these losses: by 34 at home -vs- Air Force by 16 at home -vs- Santa Clara by 4 at home -vs- Cal

I know if I lived in Lexington, I wouldn't mind paying a little bit to help Stanford upset the Cardinals. Normally I would agree that that could happen...but at $153 face value for the session...there aren't many Cat fans that would pony that up, simply to boo.

March 13, 200719 yr Most fans that bought those tickets were probably non-UK fans, or just in general college hoops fans, or even UK fans that would look to sell for profit. UK was not going to be there. There will be plenty of Louisville fans in Rupp like there were thousands of IU fans there. However, I would suspect there will be a boatload of OSU fans and a nice contingent of Xavier fans. The Lexington pod is one of the best, competitive wise as you have in the bracket.

It turns out that you were correct RP. I just talked to a friend that attended the game and said it was like "Freedom Hall East". I think Jurich should consider playing a home game every year at Rupp. I'd make sure they removed any banners etc. for the game. :thumb:
