No surprise here congrats Brossart, win and move on.

Good win. Keep your eyes on the task at hand. Unite as one towards a goal. Everything else will fall into place. Now go get it. Hunger.

The Mustangs just beat up Deming and not in an illegal there should have been a foul called kinda way. Just brutal defense and Deming was VERY undersized to do much of anything in return. Deming's bench started to look like a MASH unit at the end of the game.

 

No surprise of course and no quit in Deming, but just no match for Brossart.

His ankle looked pretty bad, and he was carried from the gym after the team had dressed. Good luck to him, and a nice gesture by Coach Code and the Brossart players (especially the seniors) to find him at the end of the bench and shake hands after the game!!

This game actually got off to a pretty slow start and was still only 8-6 inside 2:00 in the first quarter. It was pretty much all Brossart from that point as they forced a ton of turnovers and Deming never really got into a flow on offense.

 

Basically the only stat you need (first half):

Turnovers: Deming 13, Brossart 2

Points off turnovers: Brossart 18, Deming 0

 

Brossart took an 18 point lead to the half and then sealed it by scoring the first eight points of the second half.

 

As of immediately after the game, the doctor hadn't ruled out the possibility of Massey's ankle being broken and they were going to have it checked out. It's a shame for a great high school career to have to end that way and hopefully he gets his chance at the next level.

I think this game was a good example of the poor quality of officials that are left. There has to be some better officials than the three that called this game, especially the younger two. They let the game get out of hands both ways by not calling blatant and dirty fouls. Like I said, this was both ways. Massey was not the only one, but by far the worst, that needed the medical attention of a trainer on both benches.

The three officials.............Have never seen where it helps a game in any situation.....but it cost more money. That however is for another thread.

You could tell the Deming players weren't used to or not comfortable AT ALL with the physical style of play. The refs noticed things were getting out of hand and decided to over compensate and call 20 fouls in the 3rd quarter ALONE. Not really fair to the kids, you need to either call it close early and keep it consistent or if you are going to let them beat each other up, stay with that the entire game.

I would agree with you it's a VERY fine line between aggressive and dirty. I have only seen them two times this year and I haven't seen them do anything that would be considered "dirty". Hard fouls, hand checking, pushing and shoving in the paint, those are things any team does.
