Some Brossart fans might well say the same about deming. The bottom line is that deming was completly out manned and over compensated early on by playing very physical. Massey seemed to have a tough time with the tough tight "on ball" defense by Brossart and out of frustration pushed off with his left hand continually as he drove. His ankle injury had nothing to do with contact. I hope he is ok. Brossart's smallest player was constantly knocked to the ground. Last night was an example of 10th Region Tournament play. No more and no less. Congrats to Deming on making it to the fieldhouse and good luck in the future.

I would agree with you it's a VERY fine line between aggressive and dirty. I have only seen them two times this year and I haven't seen them do anything that would be considered "dirty". Hard fouls, hand checking, pushing and shoving in the paint, those are things any team does.

 

I agree, and am not complaining about aggressive play because I love it. I thought a few elbows and blatant shoves in the paint and out front after the ball was penetrated in and the referees were no longer watching was what I meant by dirty. Brossart is VERY aggressive and their defensive efforts will be needed to beat Mason on Saturday.

And then you follow up by ragging on the officals, who did the best they could under the circumstances. I guess we were watching two different games, but I thought that once the score got out of hand that the officials were sympathetic to the "men in black."

This is not the first game I have seen you play. I travel the 10th, 11th, and 16th regions watching boys and girls basketball. I do think that in the 6 or 7 ball games that I have watched, they do play the dirtiest ball in the 10th region. They play very aggressive defense and could stop there, but there is dirty play, especially when the refs know they are not watching. The referees did not do a good job last night under any circumstances. They let too many blatant fouls go on both ends, that includes Deming. This leads to injuries plain and simple. One of your boys went to the bench with a bleeding nose last night from a Deming blatant foul. Say what you want about me because I do not care, but please be open minded about ball no matter who you support. I offer my "no-creditability list" opinions and concerns as someone on the outside.

I'm O.K. with teams playing physical basketball, but this is just plain rough play, calls were missed on both ends, they needed to get control of this game before someone got hurt, on the Massey injury they believed the ankle to be broke and they did take him to the Hospital for X-rays, thank you to the training staff at Mason County, and Dr. Mark Wallingford, at the time Massey got hurt I saw one Brossart's players flying thru the air like Spiderman and my view was obstucted by other players, then I saw Massey come up limping, Graves also took a shoot to his body causing him to have to exit, the 2 plays I saw on Deming's part maybe it was retailitory, I've been guilty of that, one was Curtis and #5 gettin tangled up on the floor in which the ref called a double foul on.

But Brossarts #5 was pulling and shoving on Massey althrough the game, as well as #44(COOPER?) throwing elbows. Rough play is what gets players hurt and the officals weren't who I would have officating a game.

Sympathetic?? What game were you watching? I thought the officating was horrible, I know there was not a "W" in our game against Brossart but come on this was a game that was ??"Physically"?? out of hand.

Rough play is indeed what gets players hurt, along with frustration when you are outmanned!! Cooper has a right to defend himself from all the guys constantly hanging on him and hitting him in the back all night--And if they are going to allow them to hang on him like that, then expect him to try a get them off??

 

I agree with homeless camel that they let the game get kind of out-of-hand, and then went overboard in the 3rd period, trying to get it back under control. Interesting after 32 games and countless discussions on Brossart's defense, you accuse them of dirty play?? I saw lots of dirty plays last night (off the ball elbows, shoves in the back of a player that's in the air and defenseless, undercuts. etc.) but few by the Mustangs??

 

All the Mustang coaches, players and fans feel sorry for Massey's injury (as evidenced by their post game actions), but to try and say a sprained/broken ankle that occured when several kids went up for a rebound was the result of a dirty or intentional play, is downright irresponsible!!

Were did you read this at? I said my view was obstructed by players on the court, then I saw Massey come up limping. I didn't see what caused it, other then he may have came down on some one's foot or it was just unfortunate it happened.
