After watching the replay for about the 40th time I think it was the proper call. I don't think Henderson intended to smash Hansbrough in the face but he came flying in there with the intention of delivering a hard shot and was not concerned with whether he got any of the ball or not. By definition of the rule he got what he deserved. Perhaps Roy Williams and Coach K are as much to blame as anyone for having players who had played that hard in a very hotly contested game still in there after it was decided. That said it was shocking at how much more athletic UNC is than Duke. I know that Duke is comprised of Freshmen and Sophmores but at this point in the season that can no longer be an excuse. The sophmores have played in 60 games, they are veterans and the freshman have een through a full slate of ACC games. Perhaps these 2 classes aren't quite as good as they were touted.

I would agree with the sophomores, but these freshman have been a pleasant suprise IMO..Henderson played a great game today...I can also buy your explanation of the foul.

Maryland

Miami.......Winner plays Boston College

Clemson

Florida St.......winner plays UNC

Georgia Tech

Wake Forest......winner plays Virginia Tech

Duke

NC State......winner plays Virginia

But for those of you that say that Paulus is junk...he did lead the ACC in assists last year...and is shooting lights out now that he is healed...that should be a testament that he is even better, being that so many on here say he has no athletic ability.

That looks like a very winnable bottom bracket for Duke... but you could also say they could lose in their 2nd game..

Yeah, I don't think he went in there with the intention of hitting him in the face like that. I do, however think he intended to slam something pretty hard and wasn't too concerned with wether he got the ball or not. He's not the first person to get frustrated it just so happened that his elbow hit Hansbrough in the face. If it had been a body blow there probably would have been a little bit of woofing and that would have been the end of it. The problem was where the blow landed. He just came in there too hard, if that had happened to one of us in a pickup game I'm pretty sure we'd be upset whether the blow hit us in the head or the body--baketball is a physical sport it was just excessive. That's a hard lesson for the freshman to learn, hopefully he'll grow from it. I've never seen or heard anything out of him that would lead me to believe he's a dirty player. He made a mistake, like I said before I blame the coaches as much as anyone for having those guys in the game at that point.

To it is just a shame that someone had to win this game. :D I only wish that it would be possible for both to lose. :p

I know that feeling...seriously, I wish the same when OSU and UM play.... :thumb:

Very good explanation IMO.

Maybe Laettner came into practice as of late and showed them a thing or two.

I didn't see it, did he stomp on his chest bc he was getting outplayed? :sssh: :sssh:

  I will accept that, :D

The only people who know if it was intentional or not are Henderson & the teammates he bragged to about the incident after the game.

Where have you read that Henderson was bragging about the incident?
