February 27, 200719 yr Speculation, MSU. I've heard that a couple of times from different boards. Of course, you can never believe what the boards have to say, so I don't know if there is a sliver of credibility in it. Also, apparently Tubby has to get to the Elite 8 this season to stay intact for the job. Sources say that Barnhardt asked Tubby for staff changes last year, Tubby refused, and Barnhardt left it on Tubby's shoulders this year if things didn't turn around. Whether that is true or not, I have no idea. I'm not bringing this information for people to bet money on, just what I'm "hearing." I heard the same thing from a very good source within the program before the season. Barnhardt wanted a change and Tubby didn't =. MB left it to Tubby to make the ship float.

I don't hate Tubby. I don't know why when someone says something about him leaving, many on this board start bashing because we mentioned it. I think Tubby needs to go, but I think Tubby is one of the best people around. On a sad note, what if the rumor about Smith being gone if he doesn't make the Elite 8 is true and the players know about it... what if they intentionally blew the game to see Smith lose his job. I think that would be the worst thing that could happen and I would take everyone that "blew" the game and take their scholarships away from them. Can you imagine the feeling Tubby would have.. standing there knowing that his team is losing the game on purpose?
February 27, 200719 yr :laugh: :laugh: Yeah right!!!! It will always be this way. It will always be this way. But lets face it. Nobody was going to live up to it after Rupp left. Enter Joe B.. And nobody was going to live up to the standards after Pitino left. Enter Tubby. Hopefully the next guy is accepted from the start. I don't think Tubby was the most popular choice with some fans when he was hired. For that group anything he did was going to be unacceptable. Thats why I hope he does leave and give the you're #1 sign on the way out. I know he won't do that either. But I wish he would.

February 27, 200719 yr :laugh: You can't be serious!! Why wouldn't I be serious? Crawford and Morris have already tried to leave and sometimes appear to have other things on their mind. It's just a theory... but if it happened, how would you feel?
