I don't hardly think Belll Co is better without Slusher.

I agree with you Rojas4, he didnt play with them last year so they had not matured as a team with him this year when he left, but to think how strong that team could be after a full year with him come tournament time is scary.

Bell was ranked second in the region without Slusher. He didn't play with them in the summer and no one seemed to know if he'd play in the winter.

 

Corbin was very, very average during the summer. They've improved a lot.

What point are you trying to make about Bell, do you think that they are as good or better without him also, or can you see the potential to be a stronger team after a full year of him playing with them at tournament time. As for Tony P I said earlier that he should be one of the 2 or 3 in the mix for coach of the year, he has done an excellent job with these young guys.

I know I have already posted about it, but I dont understand why more people have not mentioned the job JD Strange has done. I think, like Corbin, they have shown a lot of improvement as the season progresses.

Whitaker has done a good job, but I think the personnel at Bell is either best or 2nd best easily.

I also think JD has done a good job and if they get to the region final or win it you could make a case for him, but anything short of that after the start of the the year they had, a top 5 in the voting would be about right. Having said that, I like JD and think he always does a pretty good job, keep up the good work.

All joking aside, Whitaker has done a great job this year and should be somewhere in the mix.

The thing is Pineville only really has 3 players who can score create their own shot at all really. And I don't think anyone had them as high as 4th in the region going into the season. And I like the way they have improved as the season has progressed.

 

Bell County has had a good season and was able to get 2 wins in the Toyota Classic, beating Simon Kenton and Dixie Heights. Both had pretty good teams. Its good to see both Bell and Middlesboro having good seasons!

Corbin has over achieved this year after losing about 75% of their rebounding and point production from last year......well at least as far as most people's expectations. Most of the talk that I heard had Corbin below South, Bell, Jackson Co., Pineville and Cumberland in the rankings.

 

The schedule was probably a little weaker than normal due to the inexperience coming back. The Hounds best win would be over a very good Adair Co. team who is one of the two favorites to win the 5th region.

 

The improvement that Corbin has made from the summer or even from earlier in the year is measurable.

NL's loss in the district doesn't change my mind on the job Conway did this year at all. I tend to look at the season as a whole. I still think given time Conway will be a good one for North. Anything can happen to just about any team in a one game series. That being said, you can never count out an experienced and hard working coach like John D. in a big game.

 

In my opinion, two huge mistakes were when the Harlan Co school system fired John D after they were upset in the region and when the Harlan City School system passed on John D when Hicks left for Corbin.

To be quite frank, no 13th region coach sticks out above the rest. You say Corbin lost about 75% of their rebounding and point production last year. You say that Corbin was ranked below SL, Bell, Jackson, Pineville and Cumberland. You say Corbin's best win was over Adair County. You say that Corbin has improved.

 

If these are the real reasons you think Pietrowski should be COY then you are voting for the wrong guy...You should vote for Spurlock. Clay lost 100% of their starting lineup. Clay was ranked at the bottom of almost every pre season poll. Clay's best win was over Bell (Who could very well win the 13th this year). Other than a slip at the end of the season, Clay has most definately over achieved. Yep, looks to me like you should vote for Spurlock.:thumb:

I agree with your first sentence. No 13th region coach has really done anything to write home about this year. A few coaches have done good jobs, but none have done great jobs.
