Winless Teams

Featured Replies

As unpopular a thread as this might be, I cannot resist my yearly urge to take a look in the basement to see which teams have not won a game all season, either overall, or in their own respective regions.

2006/2007 Winless Teams

Region 2

Providence - 0 wins in their region

Region 4

Cumberland County - 0 wins in their region

Region 6

St. Francis - 0 wins in their region

Region 8

Williamstown - 0 wins in their region - 0 wins overall

Region 11

Berea - 0 wins in their region

Region 12

Danville - 0 wins in their region

Region 13

Evarts - 0 wins in their region

Region 15

David School - 0 wins in their region - 0 wins overall

Well...not too bad...I guess.

Only 2 teams have not won a game all season. I think that's a little better than years past. C'mon Williamstown! C'mon David School!...the season is winding down. In the past, making this list has often put a fire up under some teams butts to motivate them to change their losing ways. The rest of ya need to win a regional game. The state of Kentucky is watching. Go get'em guys and we will be keeping an eye on you the next couple of weeks to see if you can turn it on. :flame:

In all fairness I feel compelled to mention that Providence in Region 2 is being absorbed into Webster County next year. Some of their better players have already left...Darnell Moore 6'6" Soph or Jr. all-region performer at Madisonville-North Hopkins, and Labrice Williams 6' Soph. PG is already at Webster County he is a part-time starter/6th man. If those two were there their record would be different, they only have 26 or so boys left in the high school at this time. From all I hear the David School has the lowest enrollment in the state. I wish them the best.

Darnell Moore is a junior.

I look for The David School to potentially get their first win in school history when it plays the Kentucky School for the Deaf this week. The game should have already been played BUT snow postponed it.

This will be thier last chance to get a win this season and by comparing scores with common teams, this should be a toss-up.

Williamstown has games against Carroll Co. (lost by 33) and Henry Co. (lost by 27) left in the regular season, then against SK in the districts, who beat them by wide margains both games-- so it does not look good for them.

Excuse my ignorance on this topic, but 1 name on the list jumps off the screen at me. Is Danville traditionally this bad in basketball? I know that football is king, but don't some of those athletes that help them compete for state championships in football play basketball as well.

I noticed that Danville plays the School for the Deaf in the district tourney, so they may also get a single regional win this year.

Danville is usually pretty good. Their best player went to Boyle Co this year and is one of the top five players in the region

Not to mention the Overstreet kid that plays at Lincoln was with Danville.

Danville has won 4 games this year, just not in their Region.

Thanks for the update...downdate???...It makes me feel much better about Highlands season!!!

Well, that about wraps up the regular season.

What did I tell ya about being on this list? Williamstown beat a 16-12 10th Region Bracken Co. team for their 1st win of the season. That's quite an accomplisment considering the kind of year they've been having. They still stay on the list simply because they still haven't won a game in their own region. Next up for Williamstown is the 8th Region top rated Pioneers from Simon Kenton in the 32nd District tournament. Oh well....get'em next year guys. Congratulations though on your 1st win of the season. :dancingpa

The current list now looks like this:

2006/2007 Winless Teams

Region 2

Providence - 0 wins in their region

Region 4

Cumberland County - 0 wins in their region

Region 6

St. Francis - 0 wins in their region

Region 8

Williamstown - 0 wins in their region

Region 11

Berea - 0 wins in their region

Region 12

Danville - 0 wins in their region

Ky School f/t Deaf - 0 wins in their region

Region 13

Evarts - 0 wins in their region

Region 15

David School - 0 wins in their region - 0 wins overall

Unfortunately we still have 1 winless team in David School. Next up for them is 15th Region top rated Shelby Valley in the 59th District Tournament...hmmm...

Oh well...good luck David School and to all you teams who have not won a game in their respective regions. Go get'em next week in the District tourneys :ylsuper:

Has a winless team at the end of the regular season ever won their district? Or just winless in their region?

Hmmm...good question. I don't know about in Kentucky, but I think in Finnytown, Oh about 5 years ago there was a team that went like 1-20 for the season and ended staying alive for 3 tournament games to eventually lose, but was beating serious odd to get as far as they did.
