On Friday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m., Ludlow (5-3) travels to play Covington Holy Cross (6-2).  Last season, Holy Cross beat Ludlow 43-6 at Ludlow. How does this game go? Start the discussion.

This win should lock down that #1 seed for Covington Holy Cross. Give me them by 2+ scores.

This is a battle of the only two teams who have won the district, since this district was formed. Holy Cross is the favorite obviously, but if Ludlow can win this game, it will create a 3 way tie for first and come down to RPI. Which Ludlow then also has St. Henry next week, so if Ludlow wins these next two games. Ludlow rpi would get a big boast, and possibly get them ahead of both Holy Cross and Brossart to get the one seed.

Winning this district is a pretty big deal in that you'd be a heavy favorite over Bellevue in the first round. The other three teams in the opposite district (Newport Catholic, Newport, and Dayton) would all likely provide a much stiffer challenge.

TurboStats GameCast for Football: Holy Cross Indians_vs_Ludlow Panthers

The Covington Holy Cross Indians win their district with a solid 35-14 win over the Ludlow Panthers at Thomas More University. Holy Cross scored early on a 1 yard run by RB Dustin Wilson (8 carries for 97 yards and the TD). This followed a beautiful 43 yard strike from QB Brian Ferguson (8-9 for 190 yards and 2 TDs) to WR Kamare McClendon. Ludlow tied the game late in the 1st quarter with a QB Miller Reed pass to WR Andre Englemon Jr. for 45 yards. Reed was 8-22 for 89 yards and 2 TDs, but 1 costly interception later in the 3rd quarter. In the second quarter, HC scored twice on 6 yard TD pass from Ferguson to TE Max Hunt and a TD bomb of 65 yards from Ferguson to WR Xavier Thornberry. Ludlow answered later with a Reed to WR Jaylen Stone TD pass of 29 yards. In the game, Reed also ran for 70 yards while Stone had 6 catches for 45 yards and that TD. The score was 21-14 HC at the half. In the 3rd quarter with Ludlow driving, Reed did not see Thornberry across the middle and Xavier intercepted the pass and ran it back 88 yards for the pick 6 TD. HC put the clamps on Ludlow defensively after that. One of the most interesting plays in the game was when the Indians had a 4th and 21 from the Ludlow 38. From a running set, Ferguson rolled right and hit Thornberry with a 37 yard pass down to the Ludlow 1. RB Charles Oglesby added a 1 yard plunge for a TD after that. Thornberry finished with 3 catches for 109 yards and that TD from the 2nd quarter.

Next Friday night, Covington Holy Cross (7-2) is at home to finish the season with Bellevue (1-7). Ludlow (5-4) is at home to play St. Henry (5-4).
